Should blind people be allowed to vote?

“Legally blind” people aren’t always completely blind. James Thurber drew some of his best cartoons while he was legally blind.

Instantly reminded of the scene from Blues Brothers with Ray Charles shooting at the kid attempting to steal from his store.

I’m surprised so few actually see the root of this. Bureaucracies have somewhat arbitrary standards of what constitutes a “handicap.” (Think of all those people exploiting handicapped parking.) Many people who are “legally blind” easily have enough vision to handle a self-defense firearm, and some are even able to hunt.

Actually there is no Constitutional authority to deny them one. Seems counterintuitive, but if you were in charge of issuing permits, on what basis would you deny them?

Jane Hudson with Disability Rights Iowa said keeping legally blind people from obtaining weapon permits would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.

So they can get drivers licenses?
This is such a nonsense statement.
Yes people with disabilities need some protections under the law.
But you can not be an airline pilot. You can not be a street police officer. No one is going to hire you to take kids photo’s.
So if one of these people shoot an innocent bystander can they use the ADA as a defense?? Is common sense no longer allowed in America?

Who cares if they are blind, they usually have very good hearing and can point a gun in the direction of the voice threatening them.

I guess dems do not think blind people should be allowed to defend themselves....second class citizens in that case.
