I know there are lots of folks here on FR who have it all figured out. I wish I did.
My personal opinion is that we are screwed. We can take the screwing now and it will hurt or we can take a bigger screwing in the future (most likely since our leaders punt everything). Does not change the fact that we are screwed. I dont think there is any magic candidate with impeccable conservative credentials that can fix us because the majority of our nation does not want to be fixed.
Assuming our impeccable conservative champion (there is a unicorn) won election with a platform of fixing the fiscal mess - they would be a one term candidate. People would vote them out - the rats would promise we could have our cake and eat it too. The mid-terms would be a bloodbath for his/her party.
If you dont believe that statement you have much more faith in the American populace than I do. What say you?
I have more faith in my fellow Americans. I know how different this country would look if there were sensible and honest vote requirments, one being that if you are getting essentials (food, lodging) or assistance paying for them from the government, you forfeit your vote. That's only fair, and I think a lot more Americans than you do would basically agree. Also, vote fraud/manufacturing (rounding up people to vote) is probably responsible for far more liberals in office than folks think.
NFHale's post #105 is a better answer, though, to your lament, volunbeer. :^) I have faith in my fellow Americans.
I hope you are right Finny. Don’t mistake my lament for our nation for a loss of faith. My faith in God, my family, my friends and neighbors, and even my community remains strong even as my faith in the nation that I served is crumbling.
I pray that we find discipline and a willingness to do the right thing.
“...if there were sensible and honest vote requirements,...”
How’s this - instead of the “disenfranchising” and “discrimination” of the EEVIL Voter Photo ID...
We do the Iraqi Purple Finger/fingerprint voting method?
All across the country. One purple finger, one fingerprint, one vote.
