EXCLUSIVE--RAND PAUL: RUSSIA'S PLAN TO SECURE SYRIA'S CHEMICAL WEAPONS 'GREAT STEP FORWARD'
Breitbart ^ | 09/09/2013 | MATTHEW BOYLE

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) exclusively told Breitbart News on Monday that he believes the plan from Russian to secure Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad’s chemical weapons—a plan Assad reportedly has agreed to—would be “a great step forward” if it actually happened.

“I think it would be a great step forward if Assad were willing to do it and if Russia were willing to monitor it or an international authority with Russia,” Paul, an outspoken opponent of U.S. military strikes in Syria, said in a phone interview with Breitbart News on Monday. “I think part of diplomacy and getting things to work is allowing people to save face. If there’s a way Russia can save face in this thing and be part of an international coalition, that’s what we should shoot for.”

“I think one of the biggest problems with bombing Assad is that if we bomb Assad and we destabilize the chemical weapons and they become loose within the country and al Qaeda gets access to them, then I think that’s the real disaster,” Paul explained. “Even [Secretary of State John] Kerry admitted it would take 75,000 American troops to secure these weapons, and that’s what I’ve been saying all along—that bombing may actually lead to more instability."

"But having an international body take control of the chemical weapons would add much greater stability, and I think it would be a benefit for all of us if that would happen,” he added.

“Diplomatic solution” builds momentum.

Barry & Kerry's “redline” washes out to sea.

On the radio and on some lib websites they are giving the credit of the idea to Kerry and Obama and claiming they out smarted Russia.
Reminds me of how the libs gave the credit of the end of the cold war to Gorbachev.

Vladimir has pulled a brilliant chess move. The Mahdi’s goal here has always been to oust Assad and replace him with the MB/AQ devl’s cocktail, a goal he’s always hidden. The whole chemical weapons charge is just a pretext. Putin’s just called the Mahdi’s bluff by opening a way to eliminate Assad’s chemical weapons without eliminating Assad. The whole reason for any military action has been to open the door for far more, the only purpose of which is eliminating Assad. Now the pretext’s gone and the Mahdi’s going to have back down or admit his real goal and try to sell military action on that basis, not “saving de po children from evil poison gas.”

The Saudis are going to be pissed. They were spreading all that walking around money to get Assad attacked and now Fumblemouth Kerry just blew it.

Without WMDs the presitard has no excuse whatsoever to launch his mission creep war and the American People and the whole world knows it.

If you don’t think this media and the administration are going to take full credit for this you’re not paying attention

Obama had better take the deal. He can declare victory that he rid Syria of chemical weapons, and go back to golf. The Saudis won't be happy, but that's what they get for putting in a terrible negotiator as president.

Yep, just saw Obama/Mike Wallace interview and Wallace asked Obama if he had talked about this solution (turning over chem weapons)to Putin before, maybe at the G20. Obama nods, and says they spoke about diplomatic solutions.
Most people will run with that and say it was his (Obama)idea, even though he only tried to imply it.
