The economy is improving. The state's representatives can either return money to the taxpayers OR spend it on what this Associated Press idiot thinks is "significantly" more on schools.

Keep in mind, Rick Scott and the totally Republican legislature HAS increased spending on schools....just not to the degree the morons in the media think is best.

“increase spending significantly on schools”?
Why?
Be like throwing more money at Haiti or Africa. Lost causes both.
How about much more home schooling and Charter schools, and maybe just maybe stand up to the damned teacher unions.
Oh yeah, and figure a way to jettison very crappy teachers?

“there is no need for budget cuts”

Odd, isn’t it, that tax increases are often “needed” but there never seems to be a time for meaningful budget cuts.

Let’s open the books and see where money is being used. Shift money from garbage feel good crap and put it into core classes. Compensate math, english and science teachers at a higher rate to attract the best talent. I would do a dividend to the tax payers and slight increase in education along with a restructuring to refocus on. That is good use of tax payer money on both counts.

"It shows that the state continues to recover from the depths of the Great Recession and there is no need for [more] budget cuts... "

Sure there is. But Libtards just cant bring them to cut any government spending. They seem to miss their entire point that the state is doing better because of the cuts already made. Cut the government to the bone.

Though Scott has disappointed me recently, it’s this kind of stance that still has me in his court.

But to expand upon the Socialist mindset: In times of plenty it’s TAX TAX TAX (everyone has enough to ‘give a little more’) and in times of not it’s STILL TAX TAX TAX (since now, the beast is used to the high $$ diet).

Let’s not even get into schools here....More $$ if they’re failing, more $$ to keep the ‘C’ status and more $$ still to keep ‘A’ schools excelling....Same w/ the police.

How I detest those reports that state the ‘XYZ budget surplus...’ and not the ‘taxpayers who have overpaid $ABC...’
