Retired Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, former CIA director under President Barack Obama, called strongly Saturday for Congress to back the White House on Syria, declaring that military action against the regime is necessary to deter Iran, North Korea and other would-be aggressors.
Failure of Congress to approve the presidents request would have serious ramifications not just in the Mideast but around the world, Petraeus said in a four-sentence statement provided to POLITICO.

Translation: PRISM has more on me than I have already admitted to.
What really frustrates me about this circus is, that when one considers the “best” outcome for the United States, it cannot be seen.
Alright General, what else didn’t you confess too? How does it feel to be owned?
The best outcome IMO is let the United Nations handle it, and if they discredit themselves one more time, have the U.S. pull out of it.
Is he done with the new girlfriend already? More time for sucking up to Zero?
He needs to go climb back under his rock.
David H. Petraeus, you are smarter and better than this.
RATS, IMO, slither.
This is NUTZ! My understanding of politics is turned on its head....Why is this crap being pushed? Why have i become so antiwar unless it is brought to our shores? I feel like a hippie...dude or man...or maybe even Daddio.
Drudge has reported the EU and world leaders as well as Petraeus are for the US going into Syria. Nonintervention is beginning to crumble. Obama will get his way on this. We shall see.
BLACKMAIL. It’s the Obama Way.
What did he just let slip?
Who? The un doesn’t have any more than member countries give it. And we give it too damn much. In addition, there’s nothing “left” to discredit.
Petraeus said in a four-sentence statement provided to POLITICO.Total blackmail going on there.
Obviously he’s not. You don’t get positions like his without selling your soul to the new world order.
One way or another this turkey alleged CIC will attack Syria, no one will stop him.
David H. Petraeus, you are smarter and better than this.
For all we know DP was blackmailed into making the statement. It’s the Chicago way.
General Petraeus tell us what really happened in Benghazi
the last week or so has really been amazing to see some of the politics involved.
The Obama WH is now sending out “General Betrayus” to make the case for war by pointing out the threats posed by the two remaining members of the “Axis of Evil”.
Never thought I’d see the day.
I think Obama should just go all in and have a joint speech with W. That would be must-see TV
I guess not.
Run along Betrayus, no one cares about you any longer.
If true, one would hope that Petraeus could rise above even that.
Petraeus lost me when he started worrying about what some Florida preacher was doing.
Are we surrounded by losers rather than leaders?
Huh? Abbas is not a would be aggressor. He's defending his country!
Obama's out, is to say new evidence indicates the line may not have been crossed by Abbas. So strike is off pending further investigation. That is what I think most Americans believe.
But the problem is, the Sarin gas accusation is just a ruse to put Islamist in power in Syria and then also in Egypt.
In a normal world dealing with a normal President, the correct and rational thing to do would be to support him.
For Obama this just simply is not the case.
The damage President Obama has already done in conduct of his military operations and the even greater damage he will do in any future military adventures is so dangerous and damaging to the United States that he must be stopped at all costs.
Any damage done blocking Obama military misadventures is orders of magnitude less damaging than letting carry out his military agenda.
There are no good solutions to the problem , but blocking him is currently the lesser of two evils by a long shot
Who is he? Oh, that’s right, he wrote the Rules of Engagement for Iraq and Afghanistan.
What difference would it make MR Petraeus if Iran, North Korea or any other enemy of the US is emboldened to attack us since you won’t let us defend ourselves and support an administration that wants ALL of our weapons.
I’m sorry, Mr. Petraeus, you are not Alexander the Great, and I seriously doubt that the strategy of a military campaign designed by him 300+ years BEFORE CHRIST would be run the same as a military campaign after 632 AD, if you get my drift.
This guy doesn’t know ,His time is over.
Betrayus has been disgraced. Everybody knows why he lied for Obama
about Benghazi. He had at least one squeeze on the side. I suspect Obama
has evidence of more.
I guess obama offered him a lifetime supply of Cialis to put out this statement.
What else does Barry have on Petraus that he can own him like this?
Yes, but he has lost his credibility now.
I have always thought of Petreus as a Dem. Atkinson was embedded with him early in the Itaq invasion and I got the impression that they were both Dems and pretty negative about the Bush policies.
Who’s the tomato with the microphone in that picture?
So he wants to pimp out US forces to help out the jihadis in Syria? War is a racket.
No. Apparently he is not.
That's what we've been doing since 1991.
Wall Street Journal piece does not report the whole tale.
Here is what actually happened and was said.
I guess the “Rockefeller Republican” is “all in” for the war to help Al-Queda.
This thread needs a “Barf Alert.”
And how many of them are going to put up planes, pilots and missiles? For that matter, how many of them have been aided in their decision by offers and nudges involving US dollars and other assistance? I don't trust Obama one inch and he has decided he needs a war now for his own purposes, not what is good for the US.
