The number of planned layoffs at U.S. firms surged in August to their highest in half a year, with industrial goods manufacturers the hardest hit, a report on Thursday showed.
Employers announced 50,462 layoffs last month, up 33.8 percent from 37,701 in July, according to the report from consultants Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

It’s called propaganda. I’ve noticed that a few more sources are beginning to report the BLS BS with a snigger and a wink.
Even some of those that acknowledge the “massaged” numbers don’t want the BLS to stop. They are afraid of what widespread reporting of the real numbers would do to the fake recovery.
That’s weird. Because FOX News Radio’s Lisa Brady always tells me (during breaks from Rush & Hannity) that the economy is humming right along - never uttering any bad news.
Should be good for +200 on the DOW.
Well, looks like the “recovery” is proceeding well.
A few more tidbits of “good” news on this order, and this country will be in reality even worse off than in 1938, the deepest part of the Great Depression.
Can’t wait for the “Pearl Harbor” moment, when everybody unites on going to war with SOMEONE, just to get our factories up and running again, and our own fuel sources churning out at rates that make us totally energy independent.
