seventh among the world's most violent nations after El Salvador, the US Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Colombia and Guatemala.

I am not sure why they consider the U.S. Virgin Islands to be a separate country.

These “studies” are often questionable. Another source lists eight African countries with higher rates than Brazil.

I think much depends on reporting and definitions.
