Who are the two happiest people in the world this week?
Bashar Assad and Jimmy Carter.
One week ago, Assad was a war criminal awaiting certain retaliation from the most powerful military force the world has ever known; and Jimmy Carter still owned the title Worst President Ever.
Not anymore.
Whatever keeps a brutal dictator like Assad up at night (fear of another dinner invitation from the Kerrys, perhaps?), its certainly not Barack Obama. Americas commander in chief has made it abundantly clear that he wont support any military action vigorous enough to cause a Damascus traffic jam.
The Los Angeles Times quotes a U.S. official who says President Obama wants an attack just muscular enough not to get mocked.
They are looking at what is just enough to mean something, just enough to be more than symbolic.
And there you have the Obama foreign policy reduced to a bumper sticker: Dont mock me, bro!
But how can we not mock a president who says hes made the decision that military action against Assad is a moral imperative and essential to U.S. security; and that hes made a second decision to not make a decision but to wait for Congress to decide.
A president making these two completely contradictory statements is bad. But to make them in the same speech? No wonder Jimmy Carter is smiling.
The Twitter gag the day of Obamas We must attack, unless we dont speech was If Sen. Obama were still in office, hed vote present on President Obamas Syria plan. But the punchline is that by passing the buck to Congress, the president has found a way to vote present from the Oval Office....

If Sen. Obama were still in office, hed vote present on President Obamas Syria plan.
Priceless
Remember the term, “paper tiger”? That’s the way the world looks at Obama and by extension, the U.S.
The question is: Does Assad own any aspirin factories?
For some reason, liberals HATE aspirin.
The story is right to mock Obama, but it has a slant that says we should be bombing Syria and that is wrong.
The fact is we should have stayed out of their Civil War to begin with.
It wasn’t up to us to remove Mubarak and it wasn’t up to us to remove Ghadaffi, and it isn’t up to us to remove Assad.
Obama started all this crap now he wants someone else to blame. He got Americans killed sending weapons to Al Qaeda., Now he wants to bomb Syria to help Al Qaeda take over the country. But he doesn’t want to accept the blame for it.
The truth is his economic policies have fugged up America, His Obamacare will break us, His immigration policy will hand us over to the Hispanic low lifes who snuck in here, and his foreign policies have screwed up the whole world.
He has screwed up enough to be impeached ten times over and everyone in the Congress is frightened to be called racist so they let him get away with it.
Churchill proclaimed that WW II was Britain’s “finest hour.” The re-election of Obama was America’s weakest hour.
It’s still hard to believe that the GOP could pick a man so bad he couldn’t beat this dungheap.
It’s even hard to remember who we ran the contender was so weak.
I looked at the first debate and saw strength, I watched the other two and saw cowardice. What happened?
NO BLOOD FOR EGO!
Indeed!
If the GOP votes yes they own it
Michael Graham comes to us in print reflecting 3 or 4 days of the consensus on Free Republic.
That’s why every member of Congress should vote present...in solidarity with Sen. Obama.
