Heck let the Turks have Saudi Arabia for all I care...if they want to go ahead and revive the Ottoman Empire, they can be my guest, at least they knew how to keep the Arabs in line.
Don’t bet too much on the Turks either. They did indeed have their chance but couldn’t keep the Ottoman empire running. Between inbreeding and lead poisoning in the water system their leader class dunced itself out of effective range. The only real hope for the entire ME is the young crowd who are rapidly westernizing, including marrying fewer sisters. Anyone serious about bringing the ME somewhere near the 20th century should be focused on coaching-up the young folks in things like ethics, representative gov’t, business mgt, industry and so on. And maybe even arming them. A million Liberator 45’s spread around the ME would seriously promote polite society.
