WASHINGTON On the eve of American military intervention in Syria, the once-robust antiwar movement has stayed curiously silent.
Activists who turned out thousands of protesters during the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq say theyve been unable to effectively organize or raise money since the end of the Bush years, and that newer causes like drones have seized the space on the left once occupied by opposition to conventional warfare. And some acknowledge that the energy has leaked out of the movement because a Democrat is now in office. Though some groups have organized online petitions and some real-life protests, the antiwar crowd that was on fire before the war in Iraq has made hardly a dent in the conversation surrounding Syria.
Well, the most incredibly depressing thing was that most of the groups that existed before dont exist anymore, said Medea Benjamin, the founder of Code Pink. Thats the number one problem, is that the antiwar movement is a shadow of its former self under the Bush years.

Anti-War Groups Plead Poverty as Reason Theyre Not Protesting Possible Syria Intervention
“It just isn’t hip to protest Obama’s wars.”
Kinda makes you wonder where they were getting the money before, doesn’t it?
since when does the Left admit there is any poverty in our new Transformed Welfare-State O-Paradise?
no, they are not silent due to poverty.
they are silent because they support the new war
It’s racist to oppose Obama.
It's perfect in it's coalition.
These groups could also be paid for keeping quiet.
These anti-war lunatics aren't anti-war. They're pro-leftist, simply another cog in the Dem machinery like the envirowackos, homosexuals, and militant blacks are.
“These groups could also be paid for keeping quiet.”
Or threatened....
that is obvious to all now.
hypocrites all.
We saw the same thing during Clinton’s bombing of Yugoslavia.
It looked to me that the SEIU rent-a-mob went overnite on busses from the Wash DC Obama/King festival to the regional “demonstrations” at fast food outlets.
The left used the anti-war movement as a cloak of righteousness to wrap around their hyper-partisanship.
Or stated more succinctly, bombs with D’s are good - and bombs with R’s are evil.
The first indications were the election of ‘08. when the Anti- ‘War’ protests dissolved within weeks of 0bama’s coronation.
There are no more beggars since Obama took over.
Poverty? Those that protested Bush had the time because they didn’t work.
There was plenty of Soros money to attack Bush. There isn’t much Soros money to be had to attack Obama.
Its that simple.
The people at the bottom are simpletons but the people at the top know exactly who writes their checks.
That's the main point. Rank hypocrisy on the part of the Left. Their messiah, by definition, can do no wrong.
