Tell it brother.
I have several friends (in three different families) who have young sons either enlisted or planning to enlist in the military.
In each case I have personally known these boys since they were babies. It’s sickening to think of them doing this. They are willingly submitting to an unworthy, America-hating commander-in-chief.
Moreover the rules of engagement these days are not favorable to survival. Nor will these young men be encouraged to profess their faith. They will however be encouraged if not obligated to profess approval of homosexual behavior.
They just don’t see that this is no longer their fathers’ America, nor his armed forces.
They don’t see that there’s no good reason to risk one’s life for any political faction in Syria or Afghanistan or any other foreign country, especially with Obama calling the shots.
Pearls before swine, that’s what MY father would have said. And he was proud to have served his country honorably in WW2.
With all due respect to your friends, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to enlist today. The military has become so wussified and the rules of engagement virtually guarantee you’ll be injured or killed.
I just can’t see it.
My son is active duty Army. I do not relish him serving under the present leadership and especially do not relish the possibility of him having to serve in an area where there is no national interest at stake.
However, my son's faith has never been challenged by anyone at any level during his time in service, and he has certainly never been asked or ordered to endorse the homosexual lifestyle.
Your father served honorably in World War II and I thank him for that. Please do my son the same courtesy, as his sacrifice gives you the freedom to say the things you have said about the Army in which he proudly serves.
In the meantime, please think on Decatur's quote as posted above. We would always wish to be in the right. In the case of Syria, however, we are not, but those who have sworn to serve, as my son and the sons of your friends have done, have work to do.
There is no way I could suggest to any young person that they do as I did and go straight from high school graduation to boot camp in San Diego. I would as likely suggest to them that they should jump from a ledge and flap their arms. I know that is exactly what the left wants, to keep real patriots out of the armed forces but how could anyone encourage a young person to enlist now?
Why?
(My father served in WW2 also, and I've never questioned US motives going into war. All that has changed..)
