[I dislike Obama and everything he does. This is not about obama, it is about the ‘accepted’ count on states. What is publicly accepted may not be important to our current President, but he had dozens of experts in every field at the snap of a finger, so he’s in a position to know best. ]

Yeah, 49 on domestic soil.

Then there are the non-domestic states and territories.

These states (like Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico) don’t get representation, but they get statehood, and the federal welfare benefits that come with it.

If you add up those states and the two military bases on uncharted islands that had to be declared states to legally get funding, the total comes out to about 57 or 58.

AND ODD ASIDE: I googled this info months ago and got a complete list of non-domestic US states. Now.... it only produces answers that say 50.

I posted that info when I found it, so it’s still in my post history log. I can go back and find it, if more proof is needed. P.R. is a state, and most everyone knows that, so that would make it 51 just to start.
