NYPD has labeled mosques terror groups, spied on them: AP
NEW YORK The New York Police Department has secretly labeled entire mosques as terrorism organizations, a designation that allows police to use informants to record sermons and spy on imams, often without specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
Designating an entire mosque as a terrorism enterprise means that anyone who attends prayer services there is a potential subject of an investigation and fair game for surveillance.
Since the 9/11 attacks, the NYPD has opened at least a dozen "terrorism enterprise investigations" into mosques, according to interviews and confidential police documents. The TEI, as it is known, is a police tool intended to help investigate terrorist cells and the like.

“...but it does far more far more right than the Citys electorate deserves...”
My surprise is not so much at the NYPD, but at the fact that the politically-correct morons that run the city aren’t losing what little is left of their minds over the fact of it.
Or if they tacitly and quietly approved it.
Or did the NYPD just go ahead and do this on their own?
Well, now there’s some common sense!
Confucius say Rat always come out of Rathole.
Good. They would have been derelict if they had not.
NYC government is a strange mix. Yes, there’s the corruption and the goofiness too. But underneath it all there is a pretty high standard (for government) of effectiveness and making things work.
At least there has been from Giuliani through Bloomberg.
If you don’t think the NSA isn’t carefully tracking the NYPD and passing info on to other fed agencies, you don’t know Obama’s NSA.
Did anyone read the comments there?
I’ll bet 0bama’s NSA passes on intercepts of the NYPD to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Good. Islam is a misogynistic tyrannical political system using religion as a beard and means of control of the masses. It is completely at odds with the Constitution and Western mores in general.
FBI and NYPD broke into the Japanese consulate in NY, in the late 30’s I think, and photographed codebooks and materials that lead to the US to break numerous Jap codes across WWII.
Interesting.
Only a matter of minutes before Holder sues the NYPD.
DITTO Exactly what I was thinking.
“..a pretty high standard (for government) of effectiveness and making things work...”
Maybe... but I can’t move past them denying Citizens their most Basic, Civil, Human, and Constitutional right to defend themselves.
No matter what else they do right, that will always be the litmus test for me - of ANY government, politician, candidate, etc. How they view your right to carry and protect yourself and your family - self-defense - shows how they view ALL of your rights.
Well, at the very least, I’m glad they’re sensible and using the correct profile - it wasn’t, after all, 75yr old Irish Catholic grandmothers and grandfathers who drove those aircraft into the Twin Towers.
Could be the NYPD really was monitoring mosque activity & this story was leaked to sabotage the effort.
Muzzies in mosques will really be watching out now for snitches & bugging devices.
Well, we’ve certainly got to shut that down then? I mean, just because you lost 3000 of your citizens in one fell swoop, including over four hundred emergency workers that you knew and loved, is no reason to go drawing logical conclusions.
Remember, it doesn’t matter how many die, as long as WE DONT PROFILE!
NYPD will get sued by Holder. After all, only people who can be labeled terrorists any more are white, freedom-loving, conservative, Bible-believing, pro-life gun-owning veterans.
“...as long as WE DONT PROFILE!...”
Can’t hurt the feelings of the animals, can we?
Call me a little paranoid, but I think you just hit on the reason for the Feds to snoop with such a large net. Not to tell Americans about our enemies, but to pick targets for them among us and let our enemies know what is being done to thwart them.
Everything else this regime has done is bassackwards, why not the snooping as well?
It doesn't even have to be the whole shebang, just a few strategically placed people.
