I know a black inmate in the federal system, he worked well in the kitchen but in the few months I worked with him he always swore a lot, one day i asked him to tone it down a little. I told him he was overdoing the cursing. We were alone in the cooler and he told me “Boss I wasn't brought up this way and Im just trying to fit in with the brothers that I have to live with. I was raised in Connecticut and went to private schools and vacationed in Aspen, skiing and soccer, I just got stupid and robbed a bank, now I have to act Black or have a hard time on the block.

That is incredibly sad. He is in prison in more ways than one.
