Many Jewish socialists grew up in Europe where social mobility was virtually impossible except for a few. even Hayek bemoaned the lack of social mobility and the stratified society of his own country Austria. The great masses of people in many of those countries saw socialism as the only way of destroying the established order. Of course, many non-Jews were heavily involved as well.

But when Jew starting emigrating to the U.S. in large numbers, they found a country where the average citizen could make a fortune. Many Jews, like other immigrants, did just that. The fact is, the number of capitalist Jews in America far outnumber the socialist Jews. Nevertheless, there are also many non-Jewish people spouting the socialist line as well. Many (like Ralph Nader, Michael Moore, etal) are phonies, but their rhetoric is strictly socialist.
