HOUSE GOP LEADER: DEFUNDING OBAMACARE 'NOT REALISTIC'
Breitbart ^ | Aug 24, 2013 | By Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/24/2013 10:04:25 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.

“To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic,” McMorris Rodgers said. “But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.”

The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.

Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.

GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. “The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "‘If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too.’ This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.”

I agree and have posted before that Boehner should be removed. I don’t think you’ll find more than a very few Freepers that would disagree.

These “R party leaders” appear to be about as useful in representing the American citizenry as the proverbial teats on a boar. (Less useful than that, actually...)

Yes, a previous poster is totally correct. If they don’t get rid of Ocare now, they will own it.
(And it is depressing the economy at least as much, or almost as much, as O’s many anti-American or anti-business speeches)

Meanwhile back at the White House, Axelrod, Obama, M.Obama, Jarrett, and a few other anti-Americans strategize on the rest of their agenda to over throw the American Experience...thus far here is where they are:

Hey, Cathy, don’t you think you might at least TRY? Maybe even TRY HARD? Before our country is brought down in ruins and all the old folks are sent off to the Obamacare death camps?

Oh, sorry, I forgot. You’re part of the REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP!

You can't do that.

Why not? (Other than we can only vote out 1/3 of the Senate at a time....)

They're all crooks. They all belong in jail, period. If I had my way, they'd be tarred, feathered, and hung by their necks. Crooks. Dirty rotten crooks every last damn' one of 'em as far as I'm concerned.

Why do I say that? Show me a Congressman or Senator that' not a millionaire after they entered office. Sure, they may have been just like you and I when they went in, but now? Millionaires. And they did it by lining their pockets at the expense of you and I through the bills they passed into law.

Remember: this same Congress and President know the laws they're going to pass beforehand and make issue trades/make money on those laws. For you and I, that's insider trading. For them, it's all legal.

Crooks, every damn' last one of 'em and they deserve to be treated like crooks!

At this point I don’t care if the GOP loses the house and fails to gain the senate. There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between a RINO and a lib these days.

What an idiot!! Then when it won't work - it's the Republican's fault. Defund it and stay away from it! For every liberal voted in there are Republicans making sure they look good by their own damn stupidly. No one can be this stupid and breathe on their own - so it IS DELIBERATE.

Economic Future of United States

Not realistic under Obamacare.

Make a CHOICE, Boehner. Put the cocktail down, turn in the clubs and do the job you were hired to do or get out of the way.

That goes for all congressmen who voted to put this guy back in charge where they knew all he was going to do was act like he’s in a country club with his “friends across the aisle”.

I want a third party. I am done pretending there’s meaningful difference between the Democratic and GOP parties, and I offer the Bushes, McCain and Romney as Exhibits A, B, C and D. I think if a charismatic and principled leader such as Ted Cruz ran on a third-party ticket in 2016 he could get a 34 percent plurality victory.

There really is only one party currently, and it’s called the establishment party. Every election year the supposed two parties run around the country with their pretend differences but in the end they do whatever their establishment overlords tell them to do whether its ObamaCare or immigration reform.

RE: "Those [FBI] files are not just on politicians. They have plenty of leverage on the media, too."

That's a very good point.

Kathy McMorris-Rodgers has always been a strong voice on the conservative side of the (R) community, but this half surrender plan is liable to send her solidly into the Rubio camp of 'yesterday' names.

The actions of Obama and Senate democrats over the last few months have given the house republicans all the fuel they need to stand up against this mess of political espionage.

The bribing of key politicians to get the thing passed, the partisan vote that got it over the hump, the exemptions for Obama supporters and their companies like Sallie Jewell of REI who has been rewarded with the Interior Secretary office, union manipulations, the postponement of key elements until the next election and the multitude of lies told to the people by Obama himself are all reasons to stand up for what's right and dump this entire pile of rubbish and start over.

Kathy, you are betting on a lame horse.

Right on. There's the political elite ruling class which lives under one set of laws, then there's the rest of us who live under another.

You and I would never get away with the criminal activity that Congress and this President, Vice President, and Cabinet officials get away with on a daily basis.

But then, they live by a different set of laws (that they passed for themselves) than we do now don't they?

It's high time that changed --- one way or another. I'd prefer it happens at the ballot box but if that's taken away from us (as I fear it has been) then we may have to execute the other option in the spirit of our Founding Fathers.
