I think it is more a case of "carrying water" for certain major contributors, who--in effect--pay his salary, and assure his financial future.

Not to be cynical! But I stand by my analysis in #32 on what makes the corporate contributor click--or not--as the particulars seem to appear to the myopic individual involved.
