:Scientists believe causes could include..."

"...greater-than-expected quantities of ash from volcanoes, which dims sunlight"
Tantamount to an admission that climate change has essentially nothing to do with human activity... except there are lots of climate change people saying that volcanoes have nothing to do with the 'problem'.

"...a decline in heat from the sun during a current 11-year solar cycle..."
Also an admission that climate change has essentially nothing to do with human activity.

"...more heat being absorbed by the deep oceans..."
Entirely speculative. Convenient since nobody is measuring this.

"...or the possibility that the climate may be less sensitive than expected to a build-up of carbon dioxide."
The blind squirrels found themselves a nut. Huh.

The phrase "believe causes could include" is code for "We're guessing but don't want to use that word because it might cause us to lose our federal funding."
