Saudi Arabia politics are really complicated. On the one hand they are in support of the anti-Muslim Brotherhood Coup in Egypt. They like the much more friendly Egyptian Military running things like the good old days. They like stability.

In Syria, however, they support the rebels which include al Qaeda and certainly the Muslim Brotherhood. In this case the Saudi Policy has to be based on the greater goal of reducing the influence, power and reach of Iran. Since Syria is without a doubt an Iranian client that actually makes sense.

But it might also be an “out of the frying pan and into the fire” decision by the Saudis. Time will tell on that. But they are probably correct and they certainly understand Middle East politics better than the Big O.

“They like stability”

I think you are right. Now look at Obama’s foreign policy. He likes chaos and in every conflict over there, he constantly backs the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamists.

Perhaps the Sauds are finally figuring it out. Obama is systematically assisting and promoting the removal of long standing ME regimes in favor of totalitarian fascist Islamist leaders. They know they could be next.
