"coal powerplants closed by regulatory fiat"

Its not by fiat, it is because of the 2007 SCOTUS decision on New Source Review.

And the coal plants that are being closed are the older, smaller, dirty plants. The larger, younger coal plants are being retrofitted.

As for the new plants, there are some new coal plants being built, but because natural gas is so cheap, most of the new capacity being added is nat gas plants.

So the consensus solution is to export natural gas which will raise the price of nat gas so that coal, nukes, wind, and solar will be more competitive.

It is true using a solar panel to recharge rechargeable batteries takes away use of my refrigerator. Due to this, I have the book, “Eating Off The Grid” by Denise Hansen. Amazon only has the old publication one and it's almost $45. You can a newer publication for $15.95 at the link below.

I would not be without this book. She is a dietitian with two degrees from Brigham Young University, THE university for all things food.

Every recipe in this 225 page book is made with nothing that has to be in a fridge. There is also information you would need to live off the grid in the kitchen, ways to keep food cool, ways to substitute one ingredient for another, and portions are made so there are not any, or many, leftovers. There is a way to make cheese, then pepper it with peppercorns so it stays good for days. There is a way to fast cook dried beans to save fuel.

Due to this book, I will not need a fridge. It is here:

I was so taken with this book, I sent Denise an email and we had some give and take emails. At that time, she and husband were building a house not far from the Canadian border. Electric power was not yet at that location. They were living in a small trailer on site during that time so she was feeding the family with no power to help her. It wasn’t a problem because she can do that easily.

She said every few days she would go into town and get her emails and answer those and pay bills on line and phone whomever she needed to call.

She is the real deal.

What a neat story. “Pioneer Spirit”, for sure. Thanks again. I’m going to share with my address book.

Yeah, the thing I’ve found with CTD is that if you order more than one item (SKU), they might not all ship from the same warehouse. Save $$$ if they do, otherwise it’s separate shipping.

Kinda like tater chips, I caint settle for just one thing when I do bidnis with them folks, LOL.

Still, CTD has great customer svc - I highly recommend them for firearms/prepper gear.

I bought two based on your recommendations.

Hope I never have to use them, but will be prepared if I do.

Do you know their potential to be reused? As in, dried thoroughly enough after one use so that they can be safely stored w/o the risk of mold growing in the damp?

thanks. I read One Second After several years ago. It’s what really got me started on mental and physical prepping. Really changed my mindset.

Have you seen this old book called “Alone In The Wilderness”?

It’s in PDF format.
