Forever 21...but only working 29.5 hours weekly

While liberals were busy bemoaning the low wages of the minimally skilled hamburger flippers and other fast food employees, while Congress and the unions were busy exempting themselves from the Obamacare they pushed for,, another group of workers was falling victim to the Unaffordable Health Care Act.

Shop girls. Sales clerks.

Forever 21, the privately held fast fashion retailer teen aged girls just lo-o-ove, recently informed many full time employees that beginning Sunday, August 18 they were suddenly part time employees; their maximum working hours dropping to 29.5 hours a week.

Obamacare's mandatory employer provided health insurance kicks in for employees who work a minimum of...30 hours.

How convenient for the company which naturally denies Obamacare inspired the decision; instead because:

"Company-wide, Forever 21 recently audited its staffing levels, staffing needs and payroll in conjunction with reviewing its overall operating budget. As a result, we are reducing a number of full-time non-management positions.

Based on our audit, your position will be reclassified as Part-Time.."

Medical coverage of all types will end as will paid time off.

Nope, the IRS HATES dealing with 1099s, as they claim that too much income can be "hidden," and it insulates the employer from paying its half of FICA, so it has implemented all sorts of hoops one needs to jump through to be classified as an "independent contractor," which is the reason for 1099s.

In fact, an entire industry grew up to "certify" one as a contractor, rather than an employer.

As an example, which I've posted here before, I used to be a Novell networking instructor, and worked for an education center. Novell contracted with my employer for me to fly out to their Herndon, VA office to teach a class. However, the certification firm that Novell used claimed that I was actually an employee of Novell and not a contractor, since I was using their facilities, computers, and supplies. It was a real nightmare.

The POTUS is a full time job. How many hours does he put in a week? Ok, the less time he spends signing EOs, the better.

That would be one correct solution to the problem. If Employees went down to the local courthouse
and applied for a business license (usually only $35) and added a 1099 to their application,
employers might just give them the contract. This would only work until the Feds redefine
Contractors as being employees or some other frivolous crap. But it's a start.

Imagine the outrage from RATs towards people who've never been in business before
suddenly becoming (A 1%-er). The delusion is that people think anybody owning a business are rich.
And you can bet that the RAT's will use that statistic for their benefit, of increased business'
while at the same time crying foul at the same statistics.

More like "Forever Living With Your Parents" - because they will never be able to afford to move out now. All I can say is that I hope they enjoy their ObamaCare.

That started with Bush years ago...Private sector wages have been stagnate for nearly 15 years, the dollar has been incrementally devalued for decades...No?

People pretending this all started with Obama are only fooling themselves. Has it gotten worse under Obama...Absolutely...But in sure in hell didn't start declining under Obozo. Open lawless borders....hundreds of thousands of jobs off shored, bank bailouts, devalued dollar, borrowing trillions from the Communist Chinese, corrupt foreign policies which have looted the American treasure to the tune of multiple TRILLIONS. This all happened under Obummer?

Come on....
