This is a wise move by the anti-Morsi crowd.
Mubarak still has strong ties to the Egyptian military. Lots of friends. Lots of loyalty.
He also has a long history of diplomatic relations with other countries.
He also represents stability in Egypt. He was very corrupt and evil, but stable. Egypt needs stability.
The current generation of Muslims doesn’t deserve Democracy or Republican government.
They deserve whatever despot seizes power.
