Public funds do not pay for kosher certification. Kosher is not satanic Many companies will pay for kosher certification for other reason than just making their foods accommodating to Jews. It has become common practice for many companies to put casein (a milk protein) in many products that you would never think would contain milk. There are people who have serious food allergies to milk and really heavily on these certifications when choosing products to avoid getting ill. (serious milk allergies can even cause severe respiratory problems ) Having a kosher label helps sell product to people like this and it is just another reason why many companies will pay to have them done.
It's just not about avoiding milk as some also use this to avoid meat products (again lots of companies put meat products into things you would never think would contain them - if you are vegan you avoid these products and looking for kosher makes it easy to avoid)
Kosher and Halal are NOT the same. Halal should be avoided at all cost as it supplies money for more jihad .
