Illinois image tainted by Jackson crimes

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Many people say the federal crimes committed by former Illinois congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, former Chicago alderman Sandi Jackson are the latest examples of corruption in our state.

Jackson Jr. will serve 30 months behind bars and remain on probation for three additional years. After her husband serves his time, Sandi Jackson will go to jail for 12 months without a chance for less time for good behavior. She was ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution and serve 200 hours of community service.

The former congressman plead guilty to spending $750,000 in campaign funds on extravagant personal items - like a $43,350 gold-plated men's Rolex watch. His wife plead guilty to filing a false tax return, since she failed to report $600,000 in income that the couple earned between 2005 and 2011. She was also her husband's campaign treasurer.

You’re talking about a state that has a special wing for Ex-Governors in the State Pen.

30 months in prison...can he make it on the Democratic Presidential bandwagon in 2016? It’ll be a tight fit...can he wear an electronic ankle monitor to rallies? /sarcasm;)

This is like saying your filthy toilet that hasn’t been cleaned in 2 years is tainted by 1 additional bowel movement.

It’s par for the course, unfortunately.

4 of the state’s last 7 governors were convicted and imprisoned. But the younger Jack$on has tainted the state’s image? lol!

Just one. His name is Rod Blagojevic. Lyin' George Ryan got out in December of last year.

I live in this sh*thole of a state, the politics here are simply EMBARRASSING. Both parties are corrupt to the core. You see the Illinois Democrats and the "Chicago way" in everything Barack "Barry Soetoro" Obama does, and the Republican's in this state may as well be Democrats.

The Republican Party in this state should be taken out and horsewhipped publicly. They show no desire to be anything other than "me too" minority party in this state.

Just f'ing pathetic, the entire damn' state.

Uh, huh---this explains why we saw JJJ's daddy s-o-o-o-o sorrowful talking to the media abt his son's "bi-polar disorder".......setting up the scam to payoff.

8/14/13 Jesse Jackson Jr. still eligible for government pension, disability pay
abc local | Chuck Goudie / FR Posted by TurboZamboni

JJJ is eligible to receive $8,700 dollars per month in disability pay due to his bipolar condition and could receive a partial federal pension of $45,000 per year once he reaches 65.

While on the city council, Sandi Jackson had automatic pension contributions of more than $50,000 withdrawn from her pay, even though she chose not to be a member of the city pension fund. (Excerpt) Read more at abclocal.go.com ...

Technically, Governor Dan Walker doesn't count. Walker lost the Democrat Primary in 1976 and left the Governor's office after the election.

After leaving office, Dan Walker was one of the founders of the Butler Walker Auto Lube quick oil change franchise, which eventually sold out to Jiffy Lube. Walker didn't go to go to jail until 1987/1988 after committing bank fraud.

So technically Walker's an "ex governor" who went to jail after leaving office.

There are really only three Illinois Governors who went to jail for political corruption two of them after being removed from office, they are Otto Kerner, George Ryan and Rod Blagojevic.

The only reason the count isn't higher is because the rest of the corrupt sons a bitches were smart enough to not get caught.

I live here, and to taint the state’s image really takes some doing...

And it’s a shame. Illiois has a lot of great people, loads of history, it produces tons of food and other products, and with it’s wealth and resources, should rank at the top. Instead, we pay the price for incompetent, corrupt, Democrat “leadership”.

I think the Jerkson family are excellent representatives of the Illinois political class.

I do have empathy and great sorrow for the good, hard working people of Illinois who must live with the likes of the Jerksons’, the Daleys, Rahm Emanuael, etc., etc.

I understand what you are saying and technically, that may be true. Technically, however, it may not. A governor like US senator retains the title for life. So ex-governor Walker was still Governor Walker when convicted and jailed.

Now? Only Blago.

But Ryan (RINO) was in jail until last month. He deserves to die in prison because his actions led to people’s deaths. (As Secretary of State his campaign people sold driver’s licenses to unqualified drivers who killed people in accidents)

Dan Walker (Democrat 1973-77) served a stint as well. And he was an anti-machine democrat which a reputation for being clean. LOL. Bank fraud, after he left office, unrelated to his Governorship.

Rat Otto Kerner (1961-68) took bribes in office, was caught after he left and served a term in prison.

That’s 3 of the last 6 and 4 of the last 8 elected Governors (Kerner resigned in his final year to become a federal judge and his LT served the remainder of his term but lost the ‘68 election).

And the current Governor Quinn belongs in prison, another “clean” guy that I doubt actually is.

So 4 Governors were jailed, 3 because of their actions in office. You had Congressman Mel Reynolds (Jackson’s predecessor) jailed for screwing schoolgirls and kiddie porn. You had Dan Rostenkowski with the post office scandal and ghost payrolling amongst numerous other acts of corruption.

And you have the scores of politicians than got away with their crimes (both Daleys) and the ones that are committing them right now.

So JJJR and his penny ante scandal ain’t NOTHIN’!
