The Republican Leadership Is Getting Massively Out-Organized on Obamacare
Atlantic Wire ^ | Aug 16, 2013 | By Philip Bump

The Republican Party is spending its summer engaged in traditional, old-timey fun, like this massive tug-of-war between congressional leadership and conservative members and activists over Obamacare. The leadership is diligently trying to pull the party toward an intricate legislative solution to the dispute, while the base is organizing all of its friends over to yank everyone off a cliff.

That's a little strong, but perhaps not too much. There's a to-hell-with-it feel to the Republican base's opposition to Obamacare. If Democrats in the Senate or the White House won't vote to kill the program, a program central to conservative critique of Obama and the opposition and the government, then shut it all down. Don't fund anything, let government rot.

Which makes sense given that the majority of those supporting the tactic don't actually work for the government. The Hill reports that members of Congress are increasingly hearing that demand out in their districts. One example...

Out-organized? That's the best the complicit leftist media can say about Obama's unconstitutional Marxist dictatorship?

Eff the left and the GOP-e RINOS! We either stop this marxist crap or we lose the rest of our freedom.

They’re not getting out organized.

They’re in on the game, outright.

Why would they organize against something they stand to make millions on with their insider trading schemes?

This is where Obama’s community organizing experience is a major asset. It is the one thing he knows how to do very well. Studied it all very carefully from the master, Saul Alinsky.

As Rush said yesterday, the Republicans don’t need to write an alternate bill to Obamacare, because we never NEEDED Obamacare, and thus we don’t need an alternative to it.

What we need is a complete separate bill to cover those uninsured people that supposedly were the catalyst for Obamacare - and leave the free market alone.

Not going to happen, but this is going to be my response to any lib who screeches about ‘the Republicans don’t even have a plan!’.

We just need to abide by the constitution regarding health care.

Hint: It’s not an enumerated power for the feds, so it’s reserved to the states and the people.

The federal government needs to butt out!!

“Out organized”? No way the repubs have ever been organized, how can they be “out organized”?

The Repubs better damn well get their act together if they have any intentions of getting re-elected or EVER having a majority again

the majority of those supporting the tactic don't actually work for the government.

And those who do support Obamacare do work for the government and won't have to live with it. The other supporters have found a way to make profits from it.

At this point, I'm all for shutting the government down. Maybe with a real crisis they'd finally figure out a way to get rid of Obamacare.

To the GOPe ObamaCare is a distraction. They do not want to pay attention to it. It takes away from their swanning about and fundraising with pro-amnesty crowd.

If Obamacare stays in place (even though it is a train wreck) what can Hillary run on in 2016? Surely not foreign policy. I frankly don’t see a way to kill Obamacare until a successful 2014 election.

They can get millions to sign up, maybe, but I don’t think that people will want to make the monthly payments for too long. There will be a lot more people on Medicaid though.

Of course. It will be also cheaper not sign up and simply pay the fine.

You are absolutely right on this point. In their minds, Obamacare is a battle lost, a done deal, the law of the land, etc. They want it behind them. And those pesky hard-line conservatives won’t let it go.

Cruz and company are going to force the issue in the fall and ruin their Amnesty plans and timetable. They want to pretend to argue for a week then pass some phony decided on ahead of time compromise and la di da, the budget work for the year is done and they can work on strong-arming Amnesty through.

You are right, of course! There are some situations, where ministerial compromises may be advantageous; where we can trust the "political pros," to actually make some things better. But that does not apply to the basic, fundamental clashes between principled people, loyal to their free heritage, and those who seek to take away the achievements of generations of honorable forebears.

On the basic clashes, the only answer is to press on, explaining to those who do not understand, of course; patiently educating all who can be educated. But to fight on; never to pretend that this is only a disagreement, merely a matter of differing opinions. The Constitution is not some opaque concept. It clearly does not authorize what is being done to us. There is only a choice between demanding our liberty, or abject surrender to those who have already demonstrated their contempt for all we hold sacred.

Our debates among ourselves, need to be redirected. We need to constantly strive to clarify our arguments. But those who seek our votes or money, must never be encouraged to think that we will ignore the truth.

Yup, the inside fix is in.

You now have more Rinos running around lying that it can't be defunded than RATS.

We got John Boehner and his lackey Cantor leading the House, we got nothing.

As far as the Senate, we got less than nothing.

If the democrats know the republicans are going to cave, I wouldn’t be surprised if the democrats defund obamacare then blame the republicans.

This is where Organizing for America, 0bama’s campaign pac, went. Along with the company Big Data. Posted about the tactics OFA planned to use at townhalls this August, just yesterday, only to be poo-pooed by FReepers as republicans are more afraid to the Tea Party. I think not.

0bama’s OFA is a formidable foe. Couple them with BigData and no one is safe from becoming their target; down to the moment when the 0bamacare fascists knock on your door.

August, NOW, was our time to do or die. There wasn’t even a fizzle and the TEA in my cup looks like bland water. We had 6 years to figure out how to win this battle and unless there is a major turning point in the next few weeks that frog marches the Marxists out of the White House...it is very much over.

Some will say except for the shooting, but I don’t think even that will happen.
