but wouldn't they be internal??? maneuvering thrusters i understand, but to me, retro-rockets are to retard/slow movement in a given direction sounds like maybe somebody got their words mixed up

They may be different, but that’s because that’s
where the blueprint was folded. Shouldn’t make any
difference in flight. Well ok, maybe a little but
not much.
