Will Homeschooling's Success Be Impacted By Common Core?
Breitbart ^ | 14 Aug 2013, | Dr. Susan Berry

Posted on 08/14/2013 6:54:59 PM PDT by Southern by Grace

Parents and educators in New York were shocked last week when student test scores plummeted following the state’s adoption of the Common Core national standards. Even prior to the adoption of the new standards, however, test results were, to many, still unacceptable, suggesting that despite billions of dollars of taxpayer funding, American students have little to show for it.

The destruction of America marches on. oMao never rests in is goal of complete destruction. Public school is child abuse. Not satisfied with destroying children in public school the have set their sights on the private and home schooled children.

Liberalism is a demonic mental disorder! Plus the liberal woman is ugly and they are mad at conservative women for being pretty. They are only happy when they can turn men into eunuchs. Just ask one.

Thank heaven we conservatives are also in support of centralized national standards (No Child Left Behind) to make sure our young'uns are properly teached!

Bush handed that one to us, as a gift to Ted Kennedy who wanted to benefit the Teachers Unions. Who is the conservative in that scenario?

Funny but true. I think lots (most) liberal women are just bitter. They need a makeover of the heart and soul as well as the outside.

The campaign to destroy homeschooling and private schools is not funny though. If we couldn’t homeschool I would consider it religious persecution. Enough to consider immigrating to another country. I’m thankful we live in Texas. They just nixed Common Core, thank goodness.

Amen to that. We're also Texas home schoolers, and are thankful that this state respects parents' rights to choose their own children's educational path.

On the other hand, three students from Phillips Exeter Academy finished first, second, and third in an International Mathematics competition.

They may have mixed Common Core but they still restored all the funding they took away in the previous session. Seems as though they need to hire at least 300 more ESL teachers this year. Those dollars will do nothing to improve education for anyone other than illegals.

I don’t know about the school taxes where you reside but all of ours went up. Appraised value were also increased so they can take even more, particularly from Seniors whose rate cannot be increased.

...despite billions of dollars of taxpayer funding, American students have little to show for it.

1.) Government prints the stuff willy-nilly.
2.) Government squanders the stuff likewise.
3.) Government declines to account for any of it.

Does that sound like the right bunch of people to turn over your children for so-called "education?"

Thanks for keeping me posted on that. Our school taxes are horrendous. I agree, we have many battles to fight

Neocons like William Bennett were also about national standards.

It would have been so nice if Reagan had tried harder to get rid of the Dept of Education. Failing that, it would have been great if he hired a common CPA to run the Dept of Education, and just run it as a pass through: basically just send the exact same money back to each state that they received from each state and let attrition and frustration continuously winnow the ranks of the Dept of Educ. staff.

Why can't we live a world like that?

Will this cause homeschooler’s test scores to continue to skyrocket since they will be compared to these plummeting gov’t schooled children’s scores?
