I encourage others to venture into God’s light. Remember the promises of God are yeses — not noes. If someone is preaching a mixed message then yes, the listener should be discerning. And should furnish correction in kindness, patience, and grace if he can. But storming in there in your own power — which it looks like you are doing — only muddles the situation worse. Better just to leave it alone if that is all you can do at the time.

Some people have so little faith in God that they are afraid to venture into the promises for fear they will fall and do a verboten act. That’s not how God works and I have proved it personally. Failures SHOULD be addressed, but not by blaspheming the one who failed (even yourself). Rather the failure should be taken to a Lord who always forgives and sets the person who had failed on a new heavenly path.

We’re talking about how to recover from failure here. God cuts our failures short if we let Him.

Here, let me give you a more concrete view of what is in my mind here, and I think I have the mind of Christ.

Your “gospel” says “Rail at the homosexual sinner.”

My gospel says to the homosexual sinner, “Sincerely seek to glorify God with your body and you will be amazed. Keep it dedicated to the purposes for which God made it.”

Now that isn’t rocket science is it? But God honors all attempts to glorify Him even if they fail... because the failures when taken back to Him and not wallowed in are forgiven, the person receives the wisdom of God without reproach, and the person will do a bit better next time. This is a process that when faithfully followed WILL effect Jesus’ “Go and continuously be stopping your sinning” [the literal meaning of the citation you quote]. This is NOT what you seem to think it should be which is “OK! YOU GET EXACTLY ONE MORE CHANCE! OTHERWISE YOU GO TO HELL!”

Right. He’s a Christian. He’s also not gay.

But he’s not imposing his Christian values on those who are not Christian.

What’s the problem?

I think Christians “should try to impose” in the sense that they make the positive gospel known to the other person as something they invite the other person to choose. Which is that if you seek to glorify God with your body, God will honor that and bless you and make you stronger to strike down the demons that tell you “no, God won’t help you.”

We’ve been playing this game of life all wrong. It was meant for God to play through our life while we dedicate ourselves to His glory and exalt Him. Then there are demons out there who will either externally oppose you or reach into your mind and say “no no no, God doesn’t do that, you live on the basis of world/self/me.” If we’ve been living under the sway of these demons too long, the blessed life seems really awkward. Also we will tend to forget the promise of God when under pressure. The challenge for success is to glorify God with gusto in the spiritually high moments which strikes at the demons, and in the spiritually low moments leave the demon fighting to God and trust the promise.

"What does Francis think ABOMINATION means?"

Miss the memo? It's a synonym for "Obama Nation".

You know you have spent a lot of time calling me names, misquoting me, and changing the subject over and over.

This original post by someone else was about RGIII talking about people ‘coming out’ now in pro football. My original comment was simply that he was probably right.

You are the one that spent time talking about role models and the nedd to call out the sinner and all sorts of things that really aren’t or weren’t on point. I guess you just like to spend your time being recalcitrant.

Have fun I am not going to play anymore. You bore me

RGIII has misrepresented REAL "Christianity." THAT is a problem for those who ARE Christians OR who those trying to understand the actual values, and expectations of Jesus Christ; It's understandably not so important for anyone else.

RG can NOT serve two masters. And neither can real Christians (according to Jesus Christ Himself.)

I have been doing a lot of reading lately in Jeremiah. People who saw the destruction of Jerusalem still did not believe in Yahweh...even though Jeremiah told them to obey God and not flee to Egypt, they still did...all the while thinking they were His chosen ones.

How can they be chosen if they break the covenant? Jeremiah told them—don’t do it, you’ll be slaughtered by the sword....but they did it their way.

America is going that way, and the American church is in deep deep danger of going that way fast. I have been under conviction myself for not following Him the way I ought. I was more like one who lamented but didn’t express my allegiance or show love to my fellow man (while NEVER compromising on the Truth).

We really have to, I think, walk the line...loving the sinner, and showing them the Holiness of God, describing His justice and His mercy...while at the same time standing against the sin.

And we cannot do it within ourselves. Only through the Holy Spirit.

[My original comment was simply that he was probably right.]

“Right” on time for what’s described in Romans 1:25+

Even a “game”, and those who play it, can become an object of idolatrous worship.

“and because of this, God gave them over”

Same ol’

>>“Rail at the homosexual sinner.”

No, recognize the natural due penalties for perversion for what they are and defend culture against those effects.

It’s not surprising Russia’s figured that out, given that it’s used demoralization as a strategic weapon against its enemies.

The problem is the farcical notion that his religious facade somehow makes him less of a Useful Idiot who’s facilitating the demoralization of American culture.

Well, Christian ministry DOES “protect culture” among much greater salutary effects including effects on eternity.... hey guy cool down, we might agree on more than you think once you put your hot temper down.

Hey bud, I am actually quoting the bible and following in its precedent!

Paul said exactly the same thing, that when he gave a piece of godly advice, that he had the mind of Christ.

Calm down. I’m not being your enemy here unless you want to keep impugning the glory of God which includes generous forgiveness to anyone who is sincere about living a godly life. Can you suggest improvements on what I recommend? Feel free if you can. Remember the old “constructive criticism is better” principle?

As for free minds, a mind that is free without content is an empty mind. God never intended minds to be empty. God intended them (as well as the rest of you) to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in turn ministers Christ. (That’s how one gets the mind of Christ.)

You WILL be filled with the Holy Spirit if you only quit BLOCKING the Holy Spirit! It’s that easy. Quit saying no to God.

And by the way I am saying the exact same thing to you as I would say to unbelieving homosexual sinners. Quit blocking the spirit of God. The first thing you should quit blocking is God’s salvational offer; instead, embrace it with faith. Next you should quit blocking God’s promise to sanctify your body; again, instead embrace it with faith. But as well, quit blocking God’s promise to sanctify the rest of you; again, embrace it with faith.

Note your tiny thought circle centered around “protecting the culture.” That is a sign of idolizing culture, my friend. Take care of eternity first and then the blessings will flow outward and yes culture will benefit too!

How does this bear upon the discussion?

Here is a link to it, though. Now we can discuss with some content.

But, this is generally read as an impugnment of the "king of Babylon" together with the evil spirit which was driving him.

So how is this germane? Enlighten me.

(And, I agree with the classic analysis. I haven’t delved deeply into the details lately so may need to brush up on them.)
