The Ecotality case wasn’t the biggest payoff, but it was particularly outrageous because it got stimulus money when it was already under SEC investigation.
The company received a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission in October of 2010.
The president of Ecotality North America Don Karner was sent an additional subpoena in December of 2011, which specifically asks for any and all documentation surrounding the public announcement of the first Department of Energy grant to the company for $99.8 million on August 5, 2009.
Ecotality was awarded $99 million in 2009 and an additional $26 million in October 2011. Since the beginning of the grant period in October 2009 the company reported creating 144 jobs according to Recovery.gov .

If Green companies were any good they wouldn’t need stimulus money. Give me a solar panel that will light my home and heat it, and a cost that I can afford and I will buy it. The world will buy it, but it does not exist.

These “green energy” grants and loans are the biggest rip off of taxpayers money in my lifetime and Obummer has perfected this rip off.
After producing NOTHING of value, let alone any kind of profit.

Somehow I'd guess that an outfit like Rolling Stone or Mother Jones would be licking their chops if such a true scandal were being perpetrated by a "conservative" company.

When they arrived in DC, they were ready to plunder.
The purpose of the Democrat party is to get thieves elected so they can have access to the public treasury to loot it.
They are getting less expensive and more efficient but still do not represent great value for money. It’s a strange thing but when they are making all their money from government subsidy they don’t think about having to compete with other companies and it actually causes them to put their prices up. Selling is secondary to keeping the government happy with research results (or lies as they call them in the trade). We had so much money go into them 6 or 7 years ago from the government. Since the taxpayers money has dried up the prices have dropped by up to 2/3 - now they have to compete they find that they can drop thousands off the price.

How is this president still sitting? How is this “stimulous” anything less than a massive political money laundering scheme?
This is not a question of Green being good; it is purely money laundrying by the DNC. I wonder what the contribution history is for this outfit, both corporate and by “employees, stock holders and suppliers? If researched, one would find a green boatload of money going into various DNC and Rat candidate coffers.

I doubt the money's being laundered: merely distributed to well connected friends of friends of President You Didn't Build That and other high members of the post-constitutional oligarchy. It gets extorted from us and distributed to the self-appointed neo-aristocracy without any pretence of cleaning that I've seen.
