Immigrant and U.S.-Born Hispanics Tilt Democratic (Gallup)
Gallup ^ | Friday August 9, 2013

PRINCETON, NJ -- Hispanics in the U.S. identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party over the Republican Party by about a 2-to-1 margin, regardless of whether they were U.S.-born. Hispanics born outside the U.S. do have slightly less attachment to either party, and are more likely to be politically independent, but these differences do little to alter the basic underlying advantage Democrats enjoy across the entire Hispanic population.

Just about the same proportion that they are more likely to get government “benefits” than non Hispanics. No connection though, I’m sure.

Tilt? TILT?

When it comes to voting they will demographically mirror Blacks and vote Democrat 95% to 97% of the time. Add to that the unending "free" candy Democrats throw out...

For the absolute life of me I cannot understand this drive by Republicans to now make everyone a documented Democrat.

Only Juan, Linseed and Karl Rove didn’t know that amnesty will mean the end of the GOP....and since it’s basically worthless, that’s a good thing.

Yes the immigrants tilt democrat because our immigration policies are not smart. Lion’s share of legal immigrants get green cards (permanent resident US visa) because of family connections, and not skills. If one does not have high level skills, they tend to be poorer and thus vote for those politicians who will give them the most free stuff.

Not only is it obvious that Hispanics disproportionately support the Democratic Party, but Republicans in denial assure us that Hispanics will become more Republican as they become assimilated into America. Yet this Gallup poll shows the opposite — American-born Hispanics have a stronger allegiance to the Democratic party than do foreign born Hispanics. This makes sense because American born Hispanics were raised in an American school system that teaches them that as “people of color”, white America, now embodied in the GOP, has discriminated to keep their people down. Foreign born Hispanics are generally not as inculcated with this narrative, and they often have firsthand experience with the negatives of a Leftist regime.

Besides, the Republican idea that Hispanics will become Republican with assimilation is foolhardy in an era where America no longer stresses assimilation.

Heard a story on a radio station today that made my jaw drop. They were advertising all the “free” stuff poor kids could come on down and get for back to school - backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, medical care, and on and on. And this was for kids who are on the “free” meals programs at school.

What do the parents do for their children, anything? Don’t people realize that giving all this stuff to these kids will make them look at their parents with disdain? These giveaways without work are grooming future generations of people who have no sense of responsibility for themselves or their families. And for the people who are responsible and pay their own way, they end up having fewer kids than they might have done if they were not supporting the children of the irresponsible.

We’re discouraging self-reliance, personal responsibility, and being productive and encouraging irresponsible behavior and dependency. This is not going to end well.
