“I know of a large mall in this area that requested that bus routes from the hood be rerouted AWAY from the mall after ongoing problems with gangs of yutes.”

There is a mall in my town that is a pretty major hub for the bus routes. It is easily accessible by bus from Detroit. Unexpectedly it became a haven for the urban youth mob behaviour and it is now rarely frequented by shoppers with actual money to spend.

Leeches destroy their hosts.....

Anyone familiar with the Washington, DC area, may remember what happened to Landover Mall. It was a beautiful suburban mall, but too many gang types started going there, causing trouble, getting in fights, and creating a threatening atmosphere. Legitimate shoppers stayed away, and stores started pulling out of the mall. Eventually the mall was torn down.

Same thing happened to Salem Mall in Dayton. The residents of BeaverCreek have an example close at hand about what happens when it becomes easy for gang members to get to their neighborhood and their mall.

From the data, it would appear that Dayton is a “static $hithole” when it comes to violent crime!

That's "murder-a-week" Dayton.

Friend of mine tells me that Dayton ( inside the city limits ) had several dozen auto parts manufactures until recent years, now there’s only one. Unions were a big factor.

If you were a shoplifter, would you REALLY want to have to depend on a union-operated bus to make your getaway??

What 'get away' are you talking about? Most of the stuff is put in a pocket or another shopping bag. Bus drivers aren't going to check for receipts before a person boards.

You have no idea! The college and the medical school, not a clinic, are located half a mile away from the mall and shops across an interstate highway that cannot be crossed on foot. The buses were going to be run over there, but nooooooooooo, they want the mall.
Fact is, there has already been one mall in the Dayton area utterly destroyed by bus access. It became so crime ridden it was closed and torn down!
The article calls this area mostly white, yet there is a Hindu temple in the midst of it and a mosque being built a few miles away. It is also home to a major Air Force base which is very integrated and also has bus access.
Think Progress is lying.

Where? The Dayton Mall and Miami Township are still stuck with the busses and everything they bring. The mall had to impose a curfew on the kids.

There was the GM Moraine assembly plant that closed about 5 years ago. Massive facility that cranked out substandard SUVs and trucks. You want a recipe for disaster just mix the UAW with cars engineered by the accounting department.

“Nobody protests about black rap singers, because to do so would be racist. Yet protesters felt okay to protest Eminem, because his being white took race out of the equation.”

Nobody protests black rappers because nobody has any expectations of people regarded by our government as mildly retarded. Affirmative action is official, government-sanctioned vindication of the Klan’s assertion that blacks are inferior to whites.
