So why did the victims run?

FTA

Russell might have fled from police initially, fueling the massive chase, because he was high and driving on a suspended license. Toxicology results show that Russell was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol at the time of his death. Williams was also high on cocaine and had marijuana in her system.

Murder by cop. They did nothing to justify the shooting.

Not much of a “gunfight” when one side has no guns.
This is why Andy only let Barney have 1 bullet. And made him
Keep it in his pocket....

No officers were injured in what police called a "full blown-out" firefight.

Usually a "firefight" involves shooting on both sides. Maybe the cops had them surrounded and were shooting at each other.

As it turns out, an inaccurate description. A firefight would be a shootout. It presupposes an exchange of fire. Since the admission is now that the targets were unarmed, what description more accurately describes what transpired.

Armed assault?

137 shots and 47 hits, the cops there are better shots then the ones in LA.

I bet that there were about 60 throwdown guns around them when they discovered that they were unarmed. They should be doing prison time for murder. The hostler sniffers, if that haven’t already, should be here telling how they deserved to be shot and how brave the officers were.

Cops gone wild.

No car chase needs 60 police vehicles doing the chasing.

“The police fired a total of 167 bullets at Bonnie and Clyde, 50 bullets hit the couple. Bonnie and Clyde were shot dead by policemen in an ambush near Sailes, Louisiana on 23rd May 1934. “

They were 30 shots short of breaking the record.

Pack syndrome. Nothing less. A lot of cops would drive a hundred miles to empty their gun in a battle like this.
Looks like some of them did.

When we speak of people with guns being out of control, let’s first look at our police. One of them opens fire and they all have to unload, when half of them cannot even see a target.

There are many good officer out there., but they all get their adrenalin up driving at break neck speed in a reckless chase, when they arrive they are so high on adrenalin, that bad things happen.

Watch the chase scenes on TV where the officers are chasing down cars. The announcer will say how reckless the car they are chasing is and how they sped through red lights, then we see the police car doing the exact same thing.

Normally someone has to shoot a cop before getting the Bonnie & Clyde treatment. Government hirelings lose the ability to tell the difference between watching a movie and believing they are in one.

The cops were trying to emulate the dramatic Bonnie and Clyde death scene....except Clyde was armed with two Brownings.

Autopsy showed each of the two was shot in excess of 40 times by cops firing into their car. This doesn't count all the bullets fired into the car body itself plus those slugs that went all over the place.

I wonder why they stopped shooting.

The officers being disciplined for violating police protocol won't lose their jobs and did not partake in the gunfight at the end of the chase, but they did have a role in the pursuit. More than 100 police officers were involved in the chase in some way.

Nineteen of the 75 officers facing discipline for offenses ranging from engaging in a chase without permission to providing false information on police reports will have disciplinary hearings and might be suspended temporarily, according to The Plain Dealer.

In 2011, the newspaper published an investigation of reports of excessive use of nondeadly force by Cleveland police officers. The newspaper found that the police chief often overlooked inconsistencies with police officers' stories when investigating use of force incidents.

Many of the officers faced accusations of brutality on the force.

And there you have the problem, consistent irresponsible, undisciplined, unprofessional, conduct enabled by obstruction of justice and perjury, systemic and tolerated in the police department.

So these two did not assault anyone or steal anything and did not beat a cop’s head on the concrete. All they did was run from cops who were following them assuming that because they fled that they were doing something wrong — and they get 47 bulletholes. This is okay there but not in Sanford Florida.

That makes sense unarmed drivers fleeing the police SHOULD be shot multiple times. And what the heck, if they make up a story about a “firefight” who cares. They’re probably criminals anyway. (SARCASM)
