House Republicans have crunched the numbers and say that since President Obama took office, the economy has added seven times more part-time jobs than it has created full-time jobs.
Since January 2009 the country has added a net total of 270,000 full-time jobs, but it has added 1.9 million part-time jobs, according to the House Ways and Means Committee.

Now min wage 29 hrs / week is the “new normal”
What so many do not understand is that even the huge number of part-time jobs have been counted multiple times. Since 2009 through the present, each summer the summer jobs, temporary overflow and temporary part-time jobs are counted for each year even though the next year the jobs will be counted again.
This is political death for the Dems. Obama cannot allow it to stand. Some vengeful big-stick punishment is coming to employers who have reduced hours, and soon.
I hope you're right, but I'm not optimistic.
As long as the markets continue to swallow this gusher of Baraqqi/Bernanke/Lew minibucks without driving interest rates to reasonable levels, the Dems will be able to pay enough entitlements to keep winning elections.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe the term was coined by the MSM to attack Reagan, whose economic rebound was just a bit better than this one.
Possibly, I remember Pelosi using it to snark at the Bush economy which had decent numbers so they had to find something to undermine it in the MSM.
Part time jobs are exactly what they want. Employers dont have to pay them healthcare so they fall into the gov net
That happened to my granddaughter’s mother. She finally graduated last winter and continued in her work-study position at a community college, working 40 hours for $12 hr. and no benefits. They promised her that the job would include bennies this summer and she would be paid $24/hr. Well surprise, surprise....there’s been a delay, and now she may even lose her job in September because they haven’t been paying her benefits for the last 6 months!
