Farmers are fighting back against criminals.
Spitting llamas, loudspeakers and security paint are just some of the ways Shropshire farmers are trying to combat rural crime.
Countryside theft across Shropshire is costing hundreds of thousands of pounds a year and it is farmers who are often the victims.
New figures revealed today show that the cost of crime in rural areas has hit nearly £700,000 a year in the county.
Farms with their secluded locations and expensive machinery are prime targets for thieves.
And though there are signs that Farmwatch schemes are helping to address the problem, thefts of diesel, fuels, scrap metals and machinery are still common.
In recent months there has been a spate of rural crimes reported across Shropshire and Wales

Geese are very good watchdogs because they will really come at you. Its the same with llamas which are aggressive and will spit at any intruder.
Edward Garratt, NFU Mutual agent in Bridgnorth, said: Much more still needs to be done to thwart rural criminals and minimise the devastating impact of crime in the countryside.
Were starting to see the benefits from communities working hard with the police and wider industry. However, people shouldnt become complacent; they need to make security a priority on their farms, businesses and homes.

Buckshot works pretty good. Oh, wait, only free people have that option and we’re talking about the serfs....er...Brits.
GFuns and stand your ground laws would break this crap up in a hurry.

Llamas? Whoa! Scary!
Methinks the Shropshire farmers need the address of a good German Shepard breeder.
They need something to put a litte teeth into the security measures!
Thanks for the pic, mate. Stealing it for future use...
And also a great place to be a Muslim... as they have discovered!

The fact is that law & order responds to the same dynamic as the market economy. The more people involved, in being personally responsible for their own needs, to the maximum extent, the better the result.

Shoot, Shovel and Shut-up works great in rural areas.
You’ve never dealt with an angry llama, I see.
Picture a 3-400 lb horse having a REALLY bad day that spits the foulest goo you can imagine, and has far sharper hooves.
Donkeys have been known to kill cougars, and llamas have killed other predators.
They’re using the tools available.
I doubt it’ll make print, but I left a comment to the effect of “Shoot, shovel, shaddup”.
For the Brit farmers it is a no win situation. Because of the criminal’s union, you can’t even shout harsh words at the criminals if you catch them in the act. And insurance companies are loath to insure you with big losses. Coming to the US soon : criminal unions, renter unions, welfare unions, etc.
All I know is....Llamas are larger than frogs.
And if you see one where people are swimming you should shout, “Look out! There are Llamas!”
Llamas are extremely territorial and highly aggressive against intruders and have a freaky shrieking danger call.
They don’t just spit, they will also charge and trample. We use them to guard sheep. No training necessary and you don’t have to feed them dog food.
Same thing with geese, very territorial and aggressive. If you aren’t use to them, they will scare the crap out of urbanized prowlers while making enough noise to wake the dead.
Some farmers around here have guinea hens. They make enough noise to rouse the dead when ANYONE comes on the property. One friend who has them says, “These hens go to 11.”
Plus, they eat ticks.
Mmmmm...Shropshire.
