A number of Confederate vets remarried very late in life to considerably younger women to pass on their meager pensions or to be “proper” if these young ladies were their live in caregivers. Could be this guy’s father did the same and still had a bit of spry in him.

He’s a self-described “angry black man”? Who cares????? It sounds like he’s a racist to me.
But, the author said his PARENTS were both slaves. That means his mother had to be at least 64 when he was born (and, let’s be candid, just what kind of slave work would an infant perform, as his mother would have to have been born NLT 1865; thus, if she were born into slavery, she didn’t do a lick of work, as she would have been an infant).
But that’s all beside the point, because I think it is clear this gentleman is a liar.
