Five scary charts and facts about who’s working and not working in this economy

At this point, even Ezra Klein is conceding that the “recovery” growth rate of 1.7 percent is a “horrific” new normal, so I can be accused of no partisan quest driving me to point out these depressing facts about our current economy, but a desire that we harness the good sense to abandon what’s not working and get the heck out of this mess.

1. Workforce participation: 2008-2013

2. Workforce participation 2008-2013, compared with 2000-2008:

3. The surge of part-time employment:

4. “[O]f the 953K jobs “created” so far in 2013, only 23%, or 222K, were full-time.”

5. Repercussions.

Hadley Heath and Bloomberg economist Joe Brusuelas team up for this doozy:

bad news for dating. MT @joebrusuelas: the # of men 20 and older not in workforce has increased from 25 to 30 million since Nov. 2007.

Plenty of our jobs left under Republican administrations as well; neither party represents the interests of the American people.

It will never change.

We would need to get rid of the EPA, Bureau of Land Management, Interior Dept. and many others.

These bureaucracies have ruined our economy by driving industry out of the country and making what remains marginally profitable.

And no one is talking about obumbler care forcing more manufacturing to leave the country, which it will.

Much of the race unrest we are facing would be eliminated if everyone could find a job.

Something Obama&Co fail to understand is that when the middle class is tapped out due to no work and taxes they don’t get to blow money.
They are speed bumps at best.

No, to fix the problem we need to get union and corporate money out of our elections.

I did not intend to list all of the things we have to get rid of, but obviously union influence is one.

But then you have to ask yourself what the difference is between union money and NRA money...or that of the Cattleman’s Association.

I spent 56 years working with, as a vendor, manufacturers that today no longer exist. They were serious employers.

I know what the EPA and other tree hugger Marxist bureaucrats did to those industries.

"...difference is between union money and NRA money."

Membership in the NRA is voluntary.

If I understand that chart, we are producing the same amount of oil today as we did in 1972?

US oil production peaked in 1970. However, demand for oil has increased since then

That chart is direct employment in oil gas extraction. Sorry, the title did come with the chart when I posted.
