Even if Mr. Calvin was deliberately employing hyperbole, the underlying point (that the mass of "true cross relics" added together exceeds a reasonable estimate of the mass of the whole "true cross") is still false.

If you want to live your lives wallowing in false "black legend", that's your problem. Don't expect not to be reproved for it.

Since you seem incapable of recognizing hyperbole when it is used, I do not know how to help you. The literalness with shich you live your life must make most things very difficult.
