He's a addicted to the social scene that goes on in Washington DC and same for his wife though I think she lives in Arizona most of the time. All 100 US Senators are treated like gods in DC. All their wives exert pressure for them to remain and do what it takes to remain a US Senator. With The House of Representatives it is the same but not as intense

McCain is not running again so he will do whatever the hell he wants to now but has been addicted to DC for 30 years by now since he started off in the House of Representatives
