LOL...even MORE so!

Crotchety Chiefs are (or at least were) legendary in the Navy. I had a Chief Aviation Ordinanceman in my squadron who had the demeanor of a constipated bull dog (though I did have reason to believe much of it was a show that he enjoyed acting)

I remember him saying once in a gruff, irritated voice after a young airman apprentice said good morning to him: “Crap. When I retire, I am going to get myself a dog, and I am going to name him “Chief”. Every morning when I get up, I am going to kick that dog and say “Good Morning, Chief!”

I thought that was funnier than hell, but he probably heard another chief say that down in the Chief’s Mess and used it for his own...:)
