There should be absolutely NO EBT cards. Basic commodities should be sold on a sliding scare to the poor through commodity stores run by the USDA....not supermarkets. The welfare criminals who are getting rich off the taxpayers would be out of business.
Now we know why Bloomie is so intent on gun laws. He doesn’t want the taxpayers armed when they come after him for his total incompetence.
If these so called poor folks exerted as much time and ingenuity into finding and keeping gainful employment as they do scamming the system, they’d be CEO’s of successful companies in no time.
Huge amounts of food aid of all kinds are stolen. There are elaborate scams in every welfare neighborhood for converting food payment cards into cash. Some of them are even controlled by organized crime rather than being free-lance operations like the ones in the article, and the money goes into whatever these criminal gangs are using it for, ranging from simple profit to terrorism.
Obviously, if the US recipients can afford to do this, they don’t need the food aid in the first place. However, for those who do, I think we need to go back to the old programs, where they would go to warehouses a couple of times a month and get boxes full of surplus food staples: beans, canned beef and ham, rice, dried potatoes, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, apple juice, etc. In other words, it was stuff they had to cook.
Having worked in one of these areas back in the 1960s when the surplus food program still operated, I know that they traded the stuff around, both exchanging different food items with their neighbors or exchanging it for something else, such as an article of clothing. But that was pretty harmless compared to what’s happening now.
Not only is food being shipped but also sheets, pillow cases, towels, tablecloths, etc.
I’m sure the democrats will cure the problem you know their logic spend more on EBT cards and get more to make sure hungry kids here get fed.

It must be recognized that the purpose of welfare in any form is NOT to feed or care for the less fortunate, but to create a dependent class who become virtual captives of government. Waste and corruption are not concerns.
