IIRC, there was not a needle big enough to have entered his fat veins. He successfully sued based on that and his execution was put on hold.

Although I’m pretty sure a firing squad would have been a most quick, effiecient and painless way to die.

I was thinking of something that would save taxpayers a few bucks in the process... like feeding him to the lions at the zoo.
