IMO there's even a better example.A few years ago,Danny Williams,the Premier of one of Canada's provinces (can't recall which one) needed heart surgery.He's a leftist who was a big supporter of Canada's health system but when *his* time came he didn't go to Montreal,Toronto or Vancouver for his care,he came to the US.That event got some publicity in Canada,much of it negative.IIRC,his response was something like "hey,it's my body and it's my right to make personal decisions regarding my health".
I had some debates on a couple of Canadian websites about this and the response from the Canucks was "of course he'd go to Florida.It's winter and it's much better to recover from major surgery in a warm climate".I kid you not.
Of course my response was "if I needed major heart surgery I'd go to damn Kabul,Nairobi or Tierra Del Fuego if that's where the best work is done".
Danny Williams, premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, apparently needed surgery on a leaky heart valve, a problem discovered when doctors detected a heart murmur. According to news accounts, he chose to have the surgery done in Florida...
