~Favorite Songs about Men~

Neil Young Old Man

"Old Man"

Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were.

Old man look at my life, Twenty four and there's so much more Live alone in a paradise That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost, Give me things that don't get lost. Like a coin that won't get tossed Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true.

Lullabies, look in your eyes, Run around the same old town. Doesn't mean that much to me To mean that much to you.

I've been first and last Look at how the time goes past. But I'm all alone at last. Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true.

Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were. Old man look at my life, I'm a lot like you were.

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son

Refrain} Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion I was soaring ever higher But I flew too high Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man Though my mind could think I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say {Refrain} Masquerading as a man with a reason My charade is the event of the season And if I claim to be a wise man, well It surely means that I don't know On a stormy sea of moving emotion Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean I set a course for winds of fortune But I hear the voices say {Refrain} No! Carry on, you will always remember Carry on, nothing equals the splendor Now your life's no longer empty Surely heaven waits for you

Barbra Streisand: "My Man"

From "Funny Girl". She is dressed in black and sings on a black background. Beautifully executed by all concerned.

Wow! Yet another knockout performance of "My Man." I posted some earlier version in #41.

Sorry about the delayed response. Mary arrived at Reagan National at 5:00 this afternoon. I left work early to collect her and drove her up to Castle Mac Nessa. We didn't get home until almost 7:00. Stopped to pick up Chinese near home.

Mary's birthday was last Friday - we had cake. We've been looking over some old family photos and talking.

I'm going to sign off now. Mary's heading down to the Old Dominion tomorrow for a wedding and we won't see her again until Saturday. I hope you have a great evening!

Ella Fitzgerald: "The Man I Love"

One of Gershwin's best. Even Sinatra was in awe of her voice.

BEATLES: Taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
