PA County issues same-sex marriage license
ABC News ^ | 7/24/2013 | USA Today

Posted on 07/25/2013 2:20:44 PM PDT by HawkHogan

Five same-sex couples obtained marriage licenses Wednesday in a suburban Philadelphia county defying a state ban on such unions, but the governor's spokesman said the local officials lack the power to suspend state law.

Alicia Terrizzi and Loreen Bloodgood, of Pottstown, were the only couple to marry right away, exchanging vows in a park before a minister and their two young sons.

"We're not setting out to be pioneers. We don't think our family is any different than anybody else," said Terrizzi, a 45-year-old teacher. "We've been waiting a long time for this."

The licenses issued Wednesday in Montgomery County are believed to be the first to same-sex couples in Pennsylvania, the only northeastern state without same-sex marriages or civil unions.

Same sex? Does this mean I can marry myself then? I don't know if I could do it though, I don't have that level of ego like Obama.

Well, Gov. Corbett: You've just been slapped across the face with a glove. Are you going to hit back with another glove, preferably with your hand in it?

This could be your path to a tough re-election campaign next year. Or not.

Issue a sham marriage license.

Wait for a Christian to challenge the marriage license in the courts.

Oppose the Christians all the way to the Supreme Court.

Wait for Justice Kennedy to write his majority opinion.

Any county that does so is violating state law. (which doesn't mean much to liberals).

Berks register of wills says he won't issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples

(excerpt)

"In 1996, the Pennsylvania Legislature and governor enacted a law clarifying that marriage is between one man and one woman," Medaglia said. "Based upon that law, Pennsylvania Orphans' Court Clerks are only permitted to issue marriage licenses to heterosexual couples until our law is changed either by legislative action or judicial decision. So far, none have occurred."

Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania Register of Wills & Clerks of Orphans' Court Association adopted a resolution Wednesday during its annual conference in Washington, Washington County, opposing same-sex marriages.

This isn’t about same sex marriage for them...it’s about the notority for the havoc they intend to create by doing so. Just wait and see...this was fully intentional.

We are living in ‘a lawless society’ now....expect more of everybody jumping over the laws and doing as they please....

I am so sick of the gays and sexual perverts.....not to mention the press for standing with them.

Of course it was.

And if the law doesn’t matter anymore, and some weaselly little bureacrat can just break it, then we can carry guns openly without licenses, drive as fast as want, not pay PA taxes, etc.,

I mean, hey, the law doesn’t matter anymore, right? Because the Registrar or Wills says so.

This guy needs to be bitchslapped back into his place pronto, and removed from his job.

What, exactly, is a “same-sex” marriage?

I have seen no evidence whatsoever that a homosexual relationship is anything more than a “best friend” relationship with a physical component. I have not seen anyone present evidence that people of the same sex undergo the same changes in brain chemistry that happens when men and women pair up. Until such is scientifically established, I will not accept that homosexual friendships are the same as heterosexual bonding. Circumstantial evidence suggests that they are not.

We all know durned well that there is a father around somewhere, if these two women are raising little boys. It’s bad enough on children to be raised by an abnormal person. I hope, at least, that these little boys are given the opportunity to interact with their father(s). They probably are not, though.

"then we can carry guns openly without licenses"

In Pa, this is legal. There is no law against openly carrying a firearm, hence it is legal. The licenses are for conceal carry.

Those who think like this miss the point.

Grace salvation does not imply " Lawlessness " .

Of course we should have laws in our society, however ? salvation, eternal life is not bought, or earned by keeping the law or good deeds.
The holy spirit is the one who helps us to live the life God intends for us.
Whether the self righteous , those do gooders realize it or not they have sins in their lives that they do not see or admit.
God's standard of perfection goes beyond what any man or woman could have achieve by keeping the law.
What get's lost with the law salvaitoneers, or the works salvaiton people is that ? at what point ( in spite of their inherent condition called " THE FALL " ) does one achieve perfection here on earth for God to accept them ?.
Another thing that get's lost with the works salvationeers is that in spite of the fact that they love to ignore this fact, that ? year after year, decade after decade, century after century ?

In spite of trying to keep the law ?

The high priest had to required by God to bring in a spotless lamb sacrifice to atone for the nations sins.
The works salvationeers, the law salvationeers love to skirt around that fact time after time and can't give a explanation for that, can they ?
If they love to keep the law ? why then ? are there no more animal sacrifices as required by GOD ?
It's because God did away with the old system, God did away with the old covenant.
