A member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) said Monday night that the Trayvon Martin trial is the latest evidence that America does not value the lives of blacks and whites equally.
"The tragic death of our young man, Trayvon Martin, followed by the acquittal of the man who pursued him and killed him, has reminded us that although it may seem as if African Americans and other minorities have achieved full equality in our civil society, we are still victims of racial profiling in violation of our laws and our morals," Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.) said on the House floor Monday night.
"The lives of black men and women are not accorded the same value as the lives of white Americans," she said. "This is a reality for far too many black Americans."

I do not believe that Blacks care very much that Trayvon Martin died. After all, they seem to ignore more violent deaths every day. I think what Blacks care about is that some “white” guy had the temerity and the means to defend himself from a beat down.

Tragic? The tragedy is that baby Trayvon, and little boy Trayvon, and teenager Trayvon, was brought up wrong and trained to do worse. Young Trayvon was taught by his family, his neighbors, and his public school that assault, robbery, burglary, and drug abuse were perfectly normal and acceptable. He did what his culture taught him to do, and he paid the price for it. The tragedy is that all those folks who taught young Trayvon to do wrong and expect to get away with it will profit materially from his death.

Until blacks bring down their murder rate , their crime rate, their illegitimacy rates, their drop out of “FREE” education rates, all things over which they have 100% control, why should we consider them equals?
Enough! We have transferred trillions in wealth! We have allowed government to discriminate against us for decades even generations, we have put up with quotas and set asides, all waiting for blacks as a group to come into the 21st century and nothing, zero, zip, NADA.
Blacks would be hard pressed to fine many countries with more opportunities than the USA prior to all the feel good give away programs. Now they have dragged the country down with them.
OH there are fantastic exceptions, usually known as black conservatives who take responsibility for their own actions and have become full participants in society. However, they truly are the exceptions which PROVES the rule.
Perhaps I’m the only person in the US who is tired of being called racist. We elected a black president, who clearly did a poor job of running things in his first term, but racist America still re-elected him. If America is racist, why do we see less racial bias against other minority groups (e.g., Asians, mid-Eastern, etc.) Could it be that demonstrated behaviour of certain minority groups warrants us to view and treat them differently? If so, doesn’t the burden of decreasing racism fall on them altering their behaviour rather than me altering my values of what is or is not acceptable?
It’s the other way around. Blacks are so precious they must never, ever be offended. One black (Trayvon) dies and we’re all supposed to be horrified and outraged. But whites are so disposable, the thousands of them who are beaten, raped and killed by blacks every year don’t even register a blip.
