Jim DeMint back at war with Republicans

Jim DeMint’s at war with Republicans — again. The tea party firebrand who made his mark in GOP primary races across the country is now at the helm of the Heritage Foundation where its political arm is doing the same thing: holding conservatives' feet to the fire.

DeMint only joined the group earlier this year, but already Heritage’s political arm has had some early fights out of the gate that have Republican leaders both angry and frustrated – feeling like DeMint is diminishing one of the party’s most powerful intellectual engines by turning it into a group taking cheap shots at Republicans.

The tensions have spilled into the open. Heritage urged members to vote against the farm bill – dealing an embarrassing loss to Speaker John Boehner – then even urged a “no” vote on the bill that stripped out food stamps and other provisions, even though Heritage had urged House leadership to strip them out.

And in the House, the tensions are so raw that House Republicans are beginning to protest including staffers from the three-year-old political arm, Heritage Action, in weekly meetings the Heritage Foundation has hosted for decades for conservative lawmakers.

“I think Heritage Action is really hurting the foundation,” said Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, the conservative Georgia Republican. “I think they’ve lost credibility with the people that were most supportive of them.”

This fight is going to be historically unique. We are going to be fighting our political opponents, the media, and supposed allies...fighting opposition from all angles. It is going to take fortitude and courage to turn this nation from the abyss. Too many Republicans in the ‘system’ are there purely for their own enrichment and not to further any principles or ideas. We have to diminish their influence on the process.

Pollutico is confused. That would be John McCain throwing the cheap shots and endangering the party.

It’s clear in some of the criticism that some Republicans do long for the day when Heritage was more like a debating society than a cut-throat political operation — influential but largely innocuous when it came to the rough-and-tumble of getting House members and Senators reelected.

And that why precisely the Rats clean their clock every election---they've melded their "think tanks" like Brookings, the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and the Center for American Progress into their brass knuckle political operations like ThinkProgress, MoveOn.org, and Organizing for America.

Meanwhile, the cocktail Republicans just want a debating society and nothing more. They admit it right here in this article!

Perpetual losers.

DeMint must be doing something right.

He’s making all the right enemies.

The GOP Establishment needs a sharp knife at their back to make them do the right thing.

Well, John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

Lindsey girl has got to go. Maybe Jim DeMint could be talked out of retirement to take out the trash.

Otherwise, I would even support Mark Sanford over him. At least Sanford's bimbo eruption was over a woman, not Juan McCain.

If you listen to Rush, the Heritage Foundation is the best thing since sliced bread. However.....here in the northern Virginia-Frederick Maryland area there is a local radio program called The Forgotten Men ( they have a website). It runs on Saturday for 2 hours and is hosted by former republican congressional aides who have seen the sausage making up close, and now they are very vocal in the fight to have government adhere to the Constitution as originally written. Last Saturday the hosts reported that the Heritage Foundation has put a lot of effort in silencing them. I thought we were on the same side. Maybe not.

Great name for a show. I’m sure it’s named after The Forgotten Man, Amity Shlaes’ book about the Depression. Highly recommended.

The Cities control the Republican party these days. They control the primaries that picks the RINOs we have been given this last decade and a half.

The cities want socialized heathcare they don't have to pay for. They want the loosened morals they wish to gain more voters (they think). And in turn the Republican party is turning into a Democrat lite party. So why bother with them.

That's why I'm watching the Tea Parties and Freedom parties for there leads. They are far more principled than the Republican party and the only ones who stand against the Democratic immoral juggernaut.

I’m urging the use of the term GOPES ;GOP Elite Snob(s) because it rhymes with dopes. Along with RINO Republicans In Name Only. In addition to getting out of the house and into your precinct. Using your printer and print up a batch of articles you see posted here in FRs and spreading them out to your neighbors and not just wait until election time.
