Fudge: Broader assault on poor, minorities

The chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus says there's "a broader discussion that we need to have [about] how we are treating poor and minority people in this country."

In a roundtable discussion on NBC's "Meet the Press" about how much the federal government -- and President Barack Obama -- can do to address racial inequality in the wake of the Trayvon Martin case, Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) cited the Supreme Court's recent ruling that "gutted" the Voting Rights Act, as well as the exclusion of food stamps in the House farm bill.

"We are being attacked from so many sides that you have to at some point decide where you can have the most impact," Fudge said.

PBS host Tavis Smiley criticized the time it took Obama to speak out on the case - which he did on Friday - after George Zimmerman was acquitted in Martin's shooting death on July 13. "He was pushed to that podium," Smiley said. "I’m glad he finally arrived."

Still, Smiley said he heard an attempt at expectations-management in Obama's speech. "The president basically said to us, without saying to us, 'This ain’t going no further,'" Smiley said.

National Urban League President Marc Morial also weighed in, saying he hoped a fast discussion would ensue.

"What I hope it leads to and what I hope we will see is not only a discussion that started and ends quickly, but a discussion that will lead to serious action steps by the nation," Morial said.

He said those steps would have to include a broader jobs component.

"It can't be done with a law enforcement approach alone," he said. "It has to be done with an economic opportunity approach."

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele warned that the Sandy Hook school shooting and ensuing gun debate could be an example of the kind of inertia threat at play. "It's not so much leading but continuing to inspire the conversation so that it doesn’t die on the vine," he said.

Nothing like a babbling paranoid progressive speaking for the ‘starving’ masses..

What a shame and embarassment to the district she ‘represents’.

We need to have a broader discussion about how the left propagates poverty and division to gain power.

“Fudge: Broader assault on poor, minorities”
*****************

First glance over I started to get upset thinking that fudge was going to get the racist treatment. Dagnabbit, that would have been a food too far.

One man, one vote. The "minorities" hate that concept. They like one man, many votes so they can bias the results. Tough. Voter id and requirement that you you prove citizenship and residency is necessary to preserve the value of voting. The only thing that was "gutted" is free license to commit voter fraud.

Make a man comfortable in his poverty and you will enslave him. Hide a man from the consequences of his choices and you will corrupt him. Get a man to define himself by race, instead of accomplishment and he will cease to be a free man.

This is the minority problem. Drop race from the description and you find that it is the majority that is a problem. Not the responsible, hard working man. They are the true minority.

Oh, Ok, like getting more of “her people” on food stamps and voting in more Democrats is going to have any impact. Impact on what? The status quo?

When the poor put into power a gov that claims that your hard earn savings must be given to those who made bad life choices. Protest is considered racism or you are simply a stingy white man. That of course is not considered assault. Knock out games played by blacks with cellphones which end up with white victims (Asians and Hispanicss also) severely injured or killed are ignored by MSM, politicians, white liberals and attacking blacks. They want a conversation, whites and middle class Americans need to draw up a list of grievances also.

"how much the federal government -- and President Barack Obama -- can do to address racial inequality"

As all blacks seem to think, "someone else is not GIVING US ENOUGH."

NOWHERE do they admit that blacks have NO INTENTION, for the most part, to pick up their asses and WORK for a living, to be RESPONSIBLE for their children (80% fatherless households), or to rely on their OWN initiative to move ahead in life, instead of relying on Whitey to be FORCED to support them and their drug-based, welfare-based, "government dependency" as a lifestyle.

Note the blacks in this article want, as usual, an “economic approach.” Translation more wealth transfer.

I have a policy about propaganda sources. Unless there is a balance of opposing opinion, I'm not interested.

What does the chairwoman of the Congressional White Caucus have to say?
