I have a few comments:
1. Clearly the WOT is NOT over, just because Obama wants to stick his head in the sand and won't even use the term.
2. Spying on AQ works -- maybe that's what we should be concentrating on, instead of wasting time and effort on spying on ALL US citizens.
3. With all our advanced technology, how come AQ can come up with a "new type of explosive that we had never seen and our detection equipment wasn't calibrated to detect it"????!!!!!!!
4. Why is the TSA chief confirming all this in a news conference letting everyone, including Al Qaeda know this????!!!

Because explosives are just chemicals, and there are countless combinations of chemicals that can do the same job. We can only detect currently known explosives, we’ll never be able to detect all potential types of explosives.
It’s the same reason we can’t ban all drugs. Some chemistry major can just invent a new one that isn’t on the list.
The terrorists obviously know this, so our bomb detection equipment is just for show, to make us feel better. We need to be focusing on detecting the terrorists, not detecting the bombs.

Clearly, we need to ban assault underwear.
