On Jan. 4 of last year, a local narcotics strike force conducted a raid on the Ogden, Utah, home of Matthew David Stewart at 8:40 p.m. The 12 officers were acting on a tip from Mr. Stewart's former girlfriend, who said that he was growing marijuana in his basement. Mr. Stewart awoke, naked, to the sound of a battering ram taking down his door. Thinking that he was being invaded by criminals, as he later claimed, he grabbed his 9-millimeter Beretta pistol. himself in his jail cell. Sean McCabe The police say that they knocked and identified themselves, though Mr. Stewart and his neighbors said they heard no such announcement. Mr. Stewart fired 31 rounds, the police more than 250. Six of the officers were wounded, and Officer Jared Francom was killed. Mr. Stewart himself was shot twice before he was arrested. He was charged with several crimes, including the murder of Officer Francom.

The police found 16 small marijuana plants in Mr. Stewart's basement. There was no evidence that Mr. Stewart, a U.S. military veteran with no prior criminal record, was selling marijuana. Mr. Stewart's father said that his son suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and may have smoked the marijuana to self-medicate.

Yesterday, I chatted with an Environmental officer at a boat ramp. He was dressed in full BDU with bloused jump boots. We were in an upscale resort town.

Yes , we need a tactical response team, trained and equipped. But we don't need them in every Mayberry in the country. If you give boys toys, they WILL play with them.

When private industry and manufacturing jobs are evaporated, everybody has to go work for the state.

The state workers have to justify their paycheck by doing unto the private sector folks.

State workers get bored and do crazy stuff.

But think a minute, cold dead handers...and I am one. How do you defend against overwhelming force? And that is what they will come with.

That is the biggest driver of this whole concept. You give them toys.

Talk of agencies getting MRAPS. Well, at some point agencies will have them, if they don’t already. And one day the chief will wonder why in the hell that thing is taking up space and resources, when it isn’t used very often. Guess what, that thing will be used for anything and everything they can think of from that point on.

Having been a cop and having worked narcotics and on a fugitive unit, I’ve learned one thing. There is a time and place for all that stuff. But, a very very large majority of it can be accomplished with a simple knock on the door or a traffic stop.

How do you defend against overwhelming force?

A good defense is a good offense. Take the fight to where they live. They have to sleep sometime.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

This is another example of the media catching up on what has been discussed on FR for years....

It is getting harder and harder to “chat” with local cops.
When was the last time you had a cop walk by you in a store or gas station who nodded and said “Good morning”? Doesn't happen anymore does it>
The LAPD may have given a great motto to American police officers but:
To protect and serve is fast being replace by:
To intimidate and subjugate intimidate.

Because for years, the job of law enforcement has turned into a “US vs THEM” game. It is no longer the cop on the beat, getting to know the people in the neighborhood.

IE, in most departments across the country they look at the officers stats(arrests, tickets, etc). If the officer is low, then he/she gets called to the carpet or disciplined. But, what if they’re doing such a good job patrolling their beat, that they don’t have to make arrests or write tickets and they’re are respected by the people in the neighborhood. For many in the command structure that isn’t acceptable. They have to be producing something(arrests, tickets).

The officers are taught to have an adversarial attitude toward the public. And then, you give them “Big Boy Toys”. Bad recipe.

"Yes , we need a tactical response team, trained and equipped. But we don't need them in every Mayberry in the country."

And that is where it just gets silly. I'm reminded of our small town department breaking up a high-schooler pot party. The trim kids scattered leaving the rotund battle ready goon squad huffing and puffing waaayyyyy in the rear.

3 months ago the Yuma County Az Sherrif’s Department recieved an MRAP. It was bought with funds from Homeland Security. There is no need for it. YCSO already has 3 up-armored HMMWVs that never get used.

Noooo!

This is what Liberals want. Cops tend to be K-selected Warriors just like us. In nature, where both K-selected and r-selected psychologies exist in the same species/population, the r-strategists are programmed to actually get the K-strategists to fight with each other, to kill them back. While the K-strategists fight, the r’s hide until it is over, or in some species, they even alter their appearance to look like females (such as in the Australian Giant Cuttle fish, where the r-males are known as transvestite cuttlefish).

Liberals are our species’ r-strategists, and they are employing this strategy here. This is instinctual, and I will give you a way to see this clearly.

Find one Liberal. Tell him that if the Feds come for your guns, you will shoot it out with the Feds, and so will every other gun owner. The Lib will love it, because that is what they want. Whether you die, or a cop dies, it is all the same to the Libs. Let there be one big war, with cops and Conservatives killing each other back while the Libs hide, and the Lib will be in heaven.

Now find another Lib, and when the subject comes up, tell him if the Feds come for your guns, you’ll give them to the Feds. But that night, you’ll get more guns, grab the names and home addresses of a few zero contributors off the FEC donation records database, and go to their homes, in the middle of the night, and take them out. Tell him, when the next revolution comes, every gun owner is going to do that. Tell them they won’t fight the government, they’ll just target every Liberal campaign contributor. Tell him that the last revolution only saw 3% of the population fighting the British. Tell him 3% of our population is about 10 million people. Tell them if each of those 10 million fighters took out one unarmed/helpless Obot a day on average, in just 6.5 days, all 65 million registered democrats would be gone. Tell him with a smile you know a few guys who would be way above that average, and then laugh.

I don’t endorse that, and would never support it myself, or take part in such a revolution, to be clear. But if you said it to a Lib, you would see their face go white. They know, instinctually, their goal is to see K-strategists fight. Evil Cops/Military/and Feds are supposed to shoot it out with those mean Conservatives. That is the natural order, and it is good. If you pose the possibility of the K-strategists seeking out the unarmed and helpless r-strategists, and killing them in their homes in the dark of night, they will freak inside, instinctually.

This is why r/K Theory in evolutionary ecology is so powerful in politics. It can help us mold our rhetoric to avoid the mistakes which can really screw things up. Keep telling everyone we will strike out at the cops if they come for our guns, and Libs will speed their efforts to send cops to our doors, because that is what they are programmed to do. Alter the rhetoric, to make the Libs see a different Darwinian outcome, and they will alter their behavior, and the entire revolutionary scenario could easily be avoided – With Words.

Check my profile page or my website for the rundown on r/K Theory, and its relation to politics and strategy.
