NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The temperature isn’t the only thing getting hot these days. If you’ve been outside, you may have noticed tempers are flaring.

As CBS 2’s Dr. Max Gomez reported Thursday, the hot weather does a lot to our behavior.

Probably true, if it isn’t expected-I doubt most of the people are aware that weather has something to do with the cycle of sunspots and such.

That said, I wouldn’t want to pay an electric bill in NYC for even a pleasant, cool month in Spring...

Being hot and uncomfortable doesn’t make you grouchy? Violent crime does tend to rise in the summer months. Maybe opportunity, but maybe mood.

If figure this is a public service announcement. “The heat is making you grouchy. Try to rise above it. Try to stay cool.” In other words, it’s asking people to be self-aware and take responsibility, not providing excuses as some here think.

If one more doctor warns me about anything, I'm going to kick things over and break windows.

This must explain why Arizona is such a “hot-spot” for violent activity.

Not!

Violent crime increases to a point not because of the heat, but because people spend more time outside interacting with each other, providing more opportunity for violent crime to occur.

When it gets too hot they start staying inside and crime goes down.

Back when I still lived with swampcooling late July and early August were bad bad times for me. Any little thing would send me in a rage, broke a lot of my own stuff. The heat and humidity gets to you after a while. Once I moved to a place with AC that stopped, I could actually be not boiling most of the time. Alfred Hitchcock Presents had an episode about heat rage, two scientists that had predicted at one temperature a neighborhood roughian would actually take it to the point of actually killing his wife. So “heat rage” is clearly not a new concept.

A lot of violent crime is domestic and under-reported so being cooped up with your nearest and dearest may not be good as it looks.

From what studies I’ve seen crime rises over 80 and drops after 90 when people retreat inside. Now in the old days when air conditioning wasn’t common, days over 90 were probably bad days.

That’s your opinion. Just like some people have the opinion that global warming is real.

Did they make up these kind of excuses for George Zimmerman’s (supposed) bad behavior.

Did Zimmerman have Heat Rage? or any other “rage” due to all of the other kind of normal nuisances that we all deal with?

98 is a cool wave here in Texas where we don’t act out over temperatures. It must be a libtard genetic behavior.

OMG!! I am sick of hearing about the “heat wave” in the Northeast! In the South and Southwest, we call these temperatures “summer”!!

What about rage caused by side effect riddled drugs like Lunesta or Rap music? Does no one ever stop to consider to ask these people if they were listening to it or took Lunesta or any other RX drug known to cause mental impairment?
